Did safer gambling fail me

I have William Hills safety gambling tools in place a daily deposit limit of £100, weekly £200 & monthly £800

So I had an absolutely banging win of £3k and I withdrew it, but later day I went back and put some of it back, It worked out that I made 15 deposits in 7hrs, but I was an appointment for 2hrs, so basically I made 15 deposits and they were 13 x £100 1 x £72.25 & 1 x £149. Then my account was suspended, for safer gambling reasons. Yes I know I’m an idiot 🤦‍♂️🤣, but I’m still well up. I told my pal and what I put back and that I have deposit limits in place, he asked if I withdraw the first, which I did do, then put some a few hours later.

He seems to believe that although William Hill eventually suspended my account, he said that they should of actioned the suspension a lot earlier, because of the way I was depositing and how quick I was following it with another deposit and the fact that I obliterated my monthly deposit limit of £800 in just 1hr 57mins. Even though I it’s down to me, he believes that because I have all the deposit limits set up and that I had withdrawn my funds, that William Hills systems have failed by not picking this up earlier and that I should raise a complaint about this. I also said that it’s what I won and that doesn’t matter

Is my pal right in what he’s saying 🤔Can anyone add to this🤔

Thank you in advance

No your pal is not right.

I would agree that William Hill maybe should have acted sooner if you were making so many deposits. Also depends how quick you made them as it seems they did notice and suspended account.

They did however not break their rules on deposit limits. They act with net deposits.
So if you had say a hundred pound daily limit and withdrew 3k you would then be allowed to deposit 3.1k in 24 hour period.

The monthly limit wouldn't apply. Once you withdraw your 3k your monthly limit would effectively be whatever you had already deposited upto that point in the month minus the 3k.

i.e. if you had lost 600 quid in the last 30 days then withdrew 3k your deposit limit would be -2.4k so you would still be able to deposit a total of 3k over the next 30 days before being back at 600 quid.

Don't think you would get far making a complaint as they suspended your account before you played all your winnings back and the system might have flagged you for some other reason.

It will be automated so there must be some criteria that you hit i.e 15 deposits or 50% of your winnings etc.

edit: replies were a bit like waiting for a bus, nothing for an hour then 3 come along at once

That’s exactly what I thought, thank for comments
Sadly, this situation of deposit limits being misdescribed because the UKGC seems to allow a loss-limit as a substitute prevails on 95% of UKGC sites.

The only one I can recall that applied a true deposit limit was SkyVegas.

Having said that, my one remaining site does exactly the same, luckily for me lol...

I think if the UKGC instructed deposit limits NOT to be conflicted with loss limits, it would kill off many sites.
