So I noticed the last week or 2, that I think Blueprint rolled out an update to all of their Megaways slots and made the reels spins far slower.

Before the reels used to spin pretty instantly and most of the reels pretty much stopped at once. But now you can clearly see they slowed them down and you can now see each reel take about 1 second each to land.

Just curious if anyone else noticed?

Kinda annoying as I prefer slots that spin fast. I seldom to quick spins when I play slots nowadays and I much prefer it.

Why is that a new rule now that the UKGC introduced?

We have the same rule with the swedish license. All slots have to take 3-seconds per spin.
I think it has to do with making slots less addictive.
You dont get the same "instant gratification" with a 3 second delay between each spin, and so the brain treats it a bit different.

Jesus wept. Far too much meddling now. So rather than losing £1000 per hour, a problem gambler can lose £800 due to the slot spinning slower. However, the problem gambler will still be a problem gambler.

I also doubt very much a 3 second delay will inhibit the dopamine response in the brain in reaction to reward (wins).

I've actually seen some swedish people in twitch chat say the delay just makes them bet more due to the delay tilting them more. Nice going, regulators

I remember reading there was some research done pointing towards a 3 second delay made the brains reward-section respond differently, but i cannot find it now.
But yeah, its like you said, it wont stop people with problems gambling away all their money, it just takes a bit longer.
If they dont, as you said, raise the bet. Then they can do it in the same time as before.

I honestly think its mostly just for show. The swedish "spelinspektion" needs to show they have done something to "help" problem gamblers when all the swedish government really is after is that sweet sweet license money from the casinos. Wich is fair enough i guess, its a giant freaking market, and swedish people seem to gamble quit a bit. Alot of money left the country to fill the pockets of the malta execs. Now a bit of it atleast stays in sweden wich i guess is fine.
They have introduced a thing called "Spelstopp" i think its similar to Gamstop(if i got the name right). You can exclude yourself from ALL casinos that has a swedish license with the click of a button.
Alot of people have used that function, and it seems to be working mostly fine (has been 2-3 cases with people being able to gamble anyways).

Maybe i remember wrong, but i think i saw you saying you were on a break from slots now?
If so, are you using gamstop?

We have the same rule here in this part of Canada (with our government owned online casino). 3 seconds per spin (and no autoplay). It's less addictive because it's also less fun.

What sucks even more is the mandatory delay is at the beginning of each spin when the reels are just spinning but with some providers (mainly WMS) if that spin is triggering the bonus then there's no delay (because playing the bonus will last more than 3 seconds so there's no need for a delay on that particular spin).

So you know right off the bat if you're getting the bonus or not when you press the button. For that reason alone I don't play WMS slots. Nothing worse than getting 2 diamonds on Rhino and knowing in advance you aren't getting the bonus.

We still have autoplay, but no quickspin/stopspin can be done.
I prefer slots that put the delay after the spin is done. But i have largely moved over to playing "slower" slots, mostly because i find the delay so annoying.
I think its pretty dumb. If they are gonna let me play, let me play at my preferred pace godamnit. =)

I'm not sure if Thunderkick are just having issues or if the 3 second delay just doesn't work for them I have played the Yeti battle took nearly 15 mins and got connection is slow numerous times the graphics sometimes went very slow and were distorted.

I dont think the issues with thunderkick is related to the 3sec delay.
The delay has been in place for a long time for me, but the last 2-3 days thunderkick slots have been acting a bit wonky.

If this was the case I wouldn't have been able to fast spin through Yeti and Pink Elephants just as early as last weekend

I am fast spinning through Queen Day Tilt battle now and it def not a 3 second delay so is UKGC planning this or is it advisory on the game maker?

It is not a new rule... but maybe they were breaching it. I'm only guessing as to the reason... but not sure why else you would do it.

No idea whats up with Thunderkick, but this is shit. I don't live in the UK or Sweden, so it shouldn't be a 3 sec rule. Annoying and boring, and there's no way i'll continue playing slots if it's boring

Ah ok. Do you feel it is doing its job?
And how long break did you take?

Im thinking about activating spelstopp for 3 months now during the summer.
Maybe that would force me to go out in the sun a bit more, haha =)

Decided to take 6 months break. Couldn't guarantee that I wouldn't be tempted to deposit even just a tenner so decided to force my own hand.

To be honest, I haven't even logged or attempted to log in to a casino since I gamstopped almost 3 weeks ago :)

This was first penned in the Budd Report in 2001 that slots should have a 3-second delay and every slot I have built with various businesses since then has been built with a 3-second spin. slam stops/ turbo mode / quick spins... will become outlawed in most if not all countries, as they become regulated.

Yes!!!! It’s very annoying to the way you have to wait about 5 seconds till the spin can be pressed again as the button isn’t lit up

Different providers seem to approach the 3-sec delay rule in different ways.
I prefer the ones that show you the spin right away, and "lock" the spinbutton until 3 sec has passed.

I think worst of all is pragmatic play. Im not sure if its the casinos making the mistake or if its coming from pragmatic
but the way they do it is by far the wors. When you press the spinbutton it takes 3-4 seconds until the wheel starts landing, meaning a spin takes about 6-7 to finish depending on wich slot you play.
I used to spend quite alot of time playing different pragmatic slots, but now i avoid them instead.

AW man, didn't wanna read that from BTG.

Not one of theirs but I love slamming the hell outta the mouse button on DoA @ minimum bet occasionally.

Caught it many a time when (no exaggeration) the bonuses are flying in as often as every 20-25 spins

Mostly rubbish of course but at least (and I know this is only a mind game)they seem to come a lot more often than normal spins.
