I was just wondering how most "first time" players signed up with an online casino?

Did you just Google "online casino" and play at the first site that tickled your fancy or did you do some more in-depth research? :)

hi

Think it really depends where your from...first casino i signed up with was ladbrokes only reason being theyre a huge company in the uk and knew it would be a safe bet ..i wouldnt necessarily search google for a casno to play id look for sites like this to make a good decision where to spend your /$

I can not remember who my first online Casino was but it was a name I recognised from the UK already.
Would make an interesting poll question though.
It amazes me that places like Absolute can still be generating new business, surely people would not play there if they did even a little research.
Seems you are a bit smarter though Ixian, since you are here

My first was Casino on Net. I'm not even sure if that's still around. I remember depositing there then looking around for a US based casino since that's where I live and closer to home was better if I had issues. I didn't realize there weren't any lol.

Then I found FREE Chips. I tried them all and found I like micro casinos. That's where I deposit a lot now. Sometimes some of us freebie hunters really do end up being real depositers. :p

William hills for casino games.

I dont recall how I went with them first. Its a high street brand in the UK, so easy to find and I figured it would be reliable.

I was a bit of a bonus whore regarding sportbooks. Every saturday I used a different site to put on my football coupon. I was off nightshift so It saved me rushing to the bookies, unshaven and hair everywhere & I got a free bet every week.

For poker, it would have been pokerroom. I was spammed and started playing the twice daily freerolls, if I could. I was on a dialup with a slow PC. It was amazing to play poker against people from other countries.

All started around 2000.

My first casino was Ruby Fortune. Then Spin Palace. Strange how you remember all this stuff cause it's been a long time ago for me.

Yeah, Im vague over the pokerrom think. I said twice daily freerolls but it might not have been as many at the time. I just got really excited when I got entered. It used to take me about 5 min to click register and actually register. What a buzz when I got in.

The kids nowadays dont know they are living, they are spoilt, lol

A good question! I'm not actually 100% sure which was first because I didn't keep logs for my first 4 months online (2001), but I think it was William Hills, although it could have been the now defunct Alps casino.
I definitely found all my early ones using a search engine because I had no idea that sites like this one even existed.
Other early ones were Grand Online, Roman, and Windows. I also discovered Intercasino at a very early stage.

I didn't even know the word 'rogue' casino until 4-years after I started, when I first discovered CasinoMeister. In those 4 years I did unknowingly sign up to some dodgy places, but I have to say I did always get my withdrawals paid to me, though some were a bit like getting blood out of a stone! :eek2:

Since discovering CM I've always stuck to his accredited list, or done my own research first. These days I only play at and recommend on my sites the most reputable casinos.

Unfortunately the rogues will always prosper IMO due to the vast majority of new players not knowing about trustworthy gambling portals, spam mail (which must be working otherwise they would stop doing it), and the ridiculously big bonus offers rogues make (which blind new players from the small print of the T&C's).

2c.

First Casino_Lasseters

I do remember this like it was yesterday! Had been a "lurker" @ WOL for little over a year starting around 1999. Started posting; asking questions, the usual "tell me more" about what I need to know before I give some unknown entity my cc #. (Max: this was before you were using your Kif from Futurama pic; I really think you should have been Zap Brannigan!)

Lasster's had a $10 no string attached free play (ah...those were the days too!) listed on a WOL banner. Got some great advice from some of the old regular WOL folks. First deposit was in June 2001; played there regularly until they had to stop taking US players :sob:

I really had a lot of luck there; was able to put in 10 new windows, a new central a/c & heating system and remodel a bathroom and kitchen in my 75 year old house.

I played a couple of times a week; no deposit over $75.00; was usually about $35

I miss Lasseters...............

Mine was 888.com (casino on net) , I saw them on t.v alot and thought they must be reputable, they are still to this date the only casino i have won the most at.... after that was bodog for the same reasons

Ill never forget my first online casino because that's what got me started lol. It was a 100% match up i found under reputable online casino google. I took a long time to pick one out, infact it was weeks before I had the courage to make a real deposit.

The casino was 32Vegas, most ppl dont like that casino here but that was before I even knew about casinomeister. I talked to the reps and did some homework before my deposit. I read all the terms etc,...

My very very first deposit was $25 and I got $50 to play with. I hit for $700 on that break the safe slot. To this day, its my favorite but I can no longer play there because Im in the USA. I made my WR and got a check for $500 within a week. Its been down hill since LMAO!

Well i always use to see these strange banners offering me cash for free..but i always stuck to the saying nothing is for free.

Until i started playing poker for free at party poker, then i wanted to play for real cash and started searching at google..wanting to play for cash i started looking around and found this slot review site.

Being a life long slot player it was love at first site riverbelle and i got screwed :xxx

After riverbelle which i played at for along time i think i moved onto the free bonuses.

I should add that along time before all that years or more i played at a flash online casino 20 one game a awp still not see that game again cant remember the casino name, and it took my money so quick i would not even think to search another casino out again what a load off crap i thought to myself.

Wow, it brings back so many memories of when I first got into this gambling mess. I mean this wonderful hobby I have.;)

I don't remember how I found the casino but it was called Triple Play. They had some slots but it was mostly triple play video poker.

I hit 4 dueces with an ace for a $400 win. I actually got paid! They sent me a check from Barbados or some country like that.

I found the Gaming Club from an advertisement in Casino Player magazine. I remember being so excited when they first came out with 5 line slots and then bonus games like Lucky Charmer.

My 1st was Platinum Play Casino
an I found it thru Gonegambling

was a blast

Good Luck

Cindy

A lot of the casinos I used to play at are now defunct, except my very first - River Belle... I started playing there in late 1998.... I also used to play at Lucky's Casino, 1stCasino.com, and a few others... lol

I still remember it like it yesterday... lmao

First one was BetandWin.

I was taking a look at the site (sports) when I saw the online casino section.
I'll never forget the casino because I made a 50 deposit, got 3000 in a few hours and the money was in my Visa card two 4 days later. :)

Of course, this has never happened again in these 5 years of online gambling

I started out on betonsports.com betting on football, then i tried their casino and it really sucked so i started looking for online casinos and i started playing at omni casino then i went to starluckcasino.com and didn't really like the games or software at either one but i did like the western union deposit method,lol....i then found palace of chance which became my favorite for awhile because many years ago they were ok and i then found microgaming and my best hits occured at music hall but sadly they are now being run by casino rewards who i don't touch witha 10 foot pole or even your money, so now its all about riverbelle or fortune lounge as far as microgaming goes

I'm similar to Babs, when I have read and article years ago about games online in a newspaper, I started to search like trusted online games or such lol :)
I liked the bingo games, and I have played it during holidays at hotels and was curious how this game looks online. I think the first hall was Bingo Hall where I signed up, but I was lurking around for some weeks :p And when I saw those winners I deposited my $25, since then it's history :D
I am always cautious with bonuses, as sometimes the wagering requirements are hard to clear, and as Lookawayorelse said, nothing is for free :)

Back In Time

Well my first casino was 888, just because that was the only one I knew. Saw their advertisements. Later, I found some new ones through Google.
I like smaller casinos better now, not the big shots.
