Has anyone else been receiving spam from Crown Vegas?

I had a chat with their live support, and found that they don't have an affiliate program at all.

This only leads me to believe that this spam is coming directly from someone that works for them in-house.

When will they ever learn that most players won't do business with spammers?

Seems as if it was sent by a "rogue" employee. They've actually been quite responsive via email regarding this situation. I basically cornered them, pressing the issue of it being an employee that sent the spam. This is the last email I received from them:

Greetings from Crown Vegas Casino!

We have forwarded this matter to our legal department, who will investigations this matter further as to who sent this mail.
We will contact you with a further feedback shortly.

Regards

Affiliate program

Hi Guys,

I am new to the board and would just like to introduce myself. There was a previous Rick who worked with us and used this login in the past, however he is no longer affiliated with CV at all.

I would like to make it clear that CV does not spam nor does it condone this type of marketing in any way. We do in fact have an affiliate program, which used to operate under casinorevenueshare.com. This URL is no longer active since were actually redesigning our entire affiliate portal and backend, however during the transition we are still providing support to our existing affiliates. Having said this, we have and we will continue to monitor our affiliates marketing techniques, and any one found to be marketing via bulk mail will be removed from the program.

Our affiliate program will be available to new signups by the end of the summer and we look forward to working with all of you.

...

I can't tell you why your getting emails across multiple accounts, you know where you have posted your email address in the past, not me.

I have no intentions of coming here to argue with you over this issue, our spam policy is stringent, and always has been, and any affiliate found bulk emailing with out proper permissions will have their account closed. I think only once you become a CV affiliate will you really understand how we operate. I can't discuss the particulars of the email you are referring to since I personally never saw it, however If your helpful enough you can forward a copy of it to me with full headers and I can direct it to the proper person here at CV.

Please send future correspondence regarding this issue as a pm.

As said above, unless you have an affiliate that is working for free, the spam would not be sent by none other than CV. I'm not arguing the subject, just stating the cold hard facts.

Next time I get more of this spam, I'll be sure to send it to you.

Oh yea, have we forgotten that an employee of your casino has already admitted that it was someone internally sending this spam?

...

I am aware that something like this happened in the past and unfortunately due to the nature of the gaming business and the marketing tactics that many affiliates and others resort to, it is impossible for us to block every and any email that contains CV links. However once we isolate the incident, whether it be an affiliate, employee, ex employee, etc, you can be rest assured that we will take immediate action to put an end to it. In any case, please feel free to forward me any complaints you have via pm and please include full headers so we can target the issue specifically.

Winbig - you are absolutely correct, IMO... The spam came thru with NO affiliate tag, so it was sent direct from CrownVegas IMO. Affiliates do not work for free.

It doesn't matter if they paid someone to spam or if they did it themselves, really. Reason enough to not play there for me. Places willing to spam are places you should not frequent.

This is the same casino that about two years ago was posting on numerous forums offering a data base for sale...

Then the manager/owner "Rick" came on here claiming it was an "ex employee" also named "Rick" that was responsible for this.

Sounds rather similar to this spam issue...

How about this one.... Headers shown. I have X'ed out all the email addresses that this was mailed to. Shame... If you're going to SPAM, please have a little courtesy and BCC so everyone doesn't see everyone else's email address. If you click on the renewspr.com link, it takes you to crownvegas.com. Sheesh... I'm not real savvy on reading headers and the stuff hidden in links, but I didn't see an affiliate code anywhere. Maybe some of you kind folks can shed more light.

And just for the record, as I was typing this up, a crownvegas email (similar but with different receiver's emails showing) popped up in my hubby's mail. (He doesn't sign up at casinos, he's a poker player.)

Simmo can you edit out the 'sent to' email addresses in wang's post, please? Thanks.

Soooo.... These are coming from hotmail accounts? But no affiliate links? What about the different links we click on to get to CrownVegas? renewspr in one and clodpri in Wang's.... Does that mean/do anything? (Like I said, I have no clue about referer links, etc.) The send to email addresses do not appear to be random/bot generated addresses (Alfred1, Alfred2, Alfreda, Alfredb that sort of thing) so they're coming from a list?

Just thinking out loud.

I also like it when they include some other poor suckers e-mail here too..

We will investigate any alleged spam complaints if you could please PM me the emails you are receiving.

I'll be happy to wait while you investigate. Please report back any findings.

You have more than enough information to go on. Complete headers, as well as domain names that people are being sent to.

edit:

Something very interesting here. All of the domains listed in this thread are registered under moniker.com, and have PRIVATE REGISTRATION INFO.

In all my years of tracking down spammers, they NEVER make the registration info private.

There's something very fishy going on here..

I've been getting at least one per day from the same "people" that have been posted. Seems that "Rick" has enough to go on now...so why keep asking????

Different "Rick"...same old attitude. Fishy, indeed.

CV info

I just got a call from Cindy in compliance who said that they found the sender of these recent emails. They were concerned because of the postings on this forum and because the emails did not include an unsubscribe link. After some investigation, we have determined that the affiliate is not spamming. The affiliate has assured us that their lists are completely opt in and that the missing unsubscribe link was a mistake. Our compliance department continues to closely monitor all of our affiliates who do opt-in emailing. Believe me, if any affiliates are found to be breaking our terms and conditions, we will be the first to take the necessary measures including terminating our relationship with them. We appreciate everyone's input in this issue.

In case any readers are wondering, CrownVegas is going to be relaunching our affiliate program (formerly known as casinorevenueshare.com) within the next few weeks. We will be accepting new affiliates. Not only do we allow US players, we are also going to have the most advanced reporting and tracking capabilities in the industry. I look forward to working with many of the you in the future.

opt-in my ass.

Prove to me where you received both of my email addresses and I'll be more than happy to apologize. Buying email addresses is NOT CONSIDERED an opt-in list.

Name the affiliate. Name his/her website if he/she has one, and give us their personal email addy. Seems fair that the affiliate knows us, we should know the affiliate. And name the source of this "opt-in" list.

....

I think most of us would like to know where/how we opted in and didn't know it. (I find it very strange that my husband -- aka: He Who Never Signs Up for Anything -- is also receiving these emails.) A 'real' opt out link will be appreciated in future emails. You might also mention to 'Cindy' that each of these emails reveals all receivers' emails ... which is very bad form. A bit more caution and consideration for the recipient(s) seems in order.

I have been working hard with compliance to get this issue resolved. Not only that, I have posted the progress of our investigations and tried to assist each and every one of you. Show me how many other casinos have representatives on the boards messaging random posters and playing with you back and forth. I will not compromise the personal details of any of our affiliates, nor will I comment any further on the subject at hand. If you continue to recieve emails after unsubscribing, please feel feel free to pm me. I may not check this board regularly, however I receive email notifications from PM's.

But your sainted affiliate can use multiple email addy's and bought lists.

Show me how many other casinos have representatives on the boards messaging random posters and playing with you back and forth.

You mean...show you how many other casino reps will address legitimate concerns and complaints against unscrupulous and spamming affiliates? The answer is...the good ones.

Nor have you addressed the issue of why there's no affiliate link in the spam mails that are sent out. Also, the code on those websites is "encrypted" by using javascript. Why else would they hide their code if they weren't spamming?

No reason to take this to PM. That's what this forum is for. To keep the members & public updated.

Perhaps a few calls to the "customer service center" by the spammed parties would be appropriate...

And tell them just how you feel about this... :)
