Corona virus - Covid 19 discussion

Sounds a bit late, they do them in sept/oct in the UK ready for the flu season, are they hoping it does something to protect against coronavirus, think I would be asking questions before I let them stab me

Its coming up to winter here in AU. Autumn now and June winter. Every year we get them around the same time.

I had a text from work that we are getting our flu shot next week and it is mandatory that all staff get it :eek2:

Though flu season start to be over already and that it was super easy because people keep wasing their hands etc.. so much because of corona? There's at the moment so many different things going on, people are given some malaria medcines at other things, mainly just to try in case if this help, in some theory it could...

It just sounds bit worrying when doctors, proffessors etc.. people who are highly educated professionals in virology or other such areas, starting to shoot with shotgun and hope one of hauls hit the target... At least these are known medicines and not new vaccinations made in month without too much information about possible side effects.

edit: Sorry, just realized where you are living so make more sense for flu vaccinations than current time in Europe :)

The flu shot you are getting this year is against the flu viruses of the last year. The vaccines are developed after they decipher the genomes of the latest viruses. They do not change super-quickly so the flu shot will immunize you against most but not for any new viruses that are 100% bound to appear this year.

Still, it is considered helpful for a lot of groups such as health workers, the elderly, people with certain allergies etc.

Just wrote to last page how easy in this small island, currently empty from traffic is to get everything to your doorstep (food, groceries, drinks and what ever fit in car).

This seem to be step to next level, freshly made cocktaisl on your doorstep :D Keep this lockdown and work from home thing at least few years, not missing these horrible traffics and island full of tourists, this current situation is good (ok, take off that virus but leave all these restrictions to make streets almost empty and delivery services fast) :)

RIP shadows diet.
:(

I think Shadow is a good sport and will understand these derails, every thread has (and should have) a gatekeeper.

Just look at the "I'm currently listening to..." -thread. There are all kinds of hidden and unspoken rules there --- and they are rigorously policed by a frequent poster in that thread. I don't want to name names (but it's Goatwack) :p

Does this mean I didn't win any beer? Was this not CM Bierfest?! :p

Meant to ask you; given the copious amount of beer you go through (last count was 3 gallons a day), do you eat in alignment with this? I used to always eat when drinking but now I don’t really bother; even near the slow dwindling death at the end of the day.

Just trying to work out what’s larger; your liver enzyme count, the beer bill or the food bill;)

Yes. Always food with alcohol. It's a good idea to have little snacks when drinking. I try to keep the snacks on the healthier side though --- like rather nuts than chips, all kinds of fruit etc.

Rice is the staple food in our household and everything is build around that. But with main meals, the best drink is actually water.

I don't count the money used in essentials. No idea how much money goes to food and beer in a month. :p

Wow. I turned green! Only took about 15+ years and a global pandemic to get here. It's a weird world.

With the amount of alcohol you consume you are lucky you have not turned yellow. :eek2:

But on a lighter note congrats i think on being green.

No. I don't like it. I'd rather have a glowing red & black thingy (like my current avatar). But that's almost like being banned. I'll ask Ben if it's worth the trouble.

If you like green, you should try aged milk.
Its like aged steak more or less. Gives a way more intense flavor.

Also its probably more natural than the milk people are used to.
You can age it in the fridge, but it takes alot longer.
Room temperature is perfect for aging milk.

After 2-3 weeks, the milk will have evaporated away all the unnatural additives that "Big milk" put in it, and it will take on a more natural green-ish color.
If you think about it, it kind of makes sense.
Grass is green, so why would milk be white?

The smell is, well its something else..
But dont let that fool you. Its just like with cheese, the ones who smell the most funky are the tastiest.

This advice is not surprising. After all, the Swedes gave us surströmming too.

Typical lawyer; too much money and you’ve lost track of it ;-)

To be fair it’ll stand you in good stead for when you take over from The Bandit ;-)

Well a banana is nice and healthy so i hope it was most enjoyable. Being the nice person i am i will not post pictures of my healthy dinner when it eventually gets delivered.

Will only be chicken curry with no disgusting onions and fried rice. Also chicken balls chips and prawn crackers. :)

And better come soon as like yourself i am starving:(

Ah, a fellow onion-hater.
I always knew you were a man of great taste.

How people think onion is food is beyond me.
"Oh, this weird thing i found in the dirt makes me cry when i cut it. I should probably eat it"

Onions are great. And all the others in the same genus. A must have in every meal.

Agree - i normally have to have a spare when i'm cooking; one for the main meal and one for 'cutting and eating' as i go along.

Same goes for mushrooms. Psychedelic ones included.

Like Paul said, this just confirms its Devil food, and not for human consumption.

And to the rest of you onion lovers.
I feel sorry for you.. Food must be so boring without functioning tastebuds. :(

onions are indeed the work of the devil. No wonder the lord of darkness is shilling them on here!
I am partial to a onion ring however, probably as the cooking process kills off the evil onion and just leaves deep fried goodness.

Forgo the onion and have a good helping of the Carolina Reaper pepper instead.

It'll be more than your eyes that are watering.

If Covid-19 can survive that then then really is no cure.

You've not experienced onion rings until you've had these.

Warning - they're a tad greasy

Plus side - you can visit the Tayto castle.

love all onion based crisps. Space raiders and rings like above are food from the gods and make a superb crisp sandwich.

When i came to Scotland they weren't sold that much here so every time i took the Ferry over I was bringing back 3 boxes of them. Guy who checks the car before you go on the ferry was obviously thinking 'you greedy pig'

Just had the 30p Space Raiders tonight - another weakness of an otherwise exemplary diet :p

Space Raiders are Okay long as it wasn't stinking onion ones. But seriously i have tried some of the Tayto crisps out the vending machines in the hotel's on my travels over there. Walkers and Golden Wonder they are not. The guy in Ferry was probably thinking noone actually eats them do they.

You're right.

They're nicer

Gary Linekar's enough to put me off Walkers, never mind the taste.

Well doesn't matter won't have to sit in Holiday Inn pissed munching them at 6 in morning this year

Beats me shaking vending machines at an IBIS Budget:p

Heard someone say they think the Bonfires will still go ahead as it will burn the virus - they didn't clarify if that meant throwing folk onto it or the heat in general.

Well only bonfires i might see will be in Glasgow on the 5th of November this year.

Doesn't bother me. But to the boy it is like the world has ended.
