UK figures for today

England - 391
Scotland - 60
Wales - 22

This is NHS hospital deaths for England and not all places that the new figure may include later in the daily brief.

Dropping again, but not at the rate you would expect. I would be surprised if the lockdown isn't extended for another week minimum.

One thing they can say now is that we are past the peak on hospital deaths, and the pressure is off the NHS
a little but where we go from here is anyones guess.
A couple of things caught my eye today, our mortality rate is around 15% ,the highest in Europe and way above most other countries even those with bad death numbers.
A group of UK companies have been prepared to make PPE items for weeks and have just been ignored
by the dept of health, there would have been little or no shortage if the government had given them the go ahead, now they are talking about making the stuff to export, just crazy

You're over-thinking things again Ternur

Just ride on the wave of harmony with the seagulls brother

I tried to add another reaction than 'like'. But no other option was available to me. The forum is acting up again. Is it just me? Is it? Just me?

I've lost weight since that picture was taken. Other than that, spot on

Well are you gonna answer the man @goatwack ?
Is it just him? Does that mean yes?

Another corona virus fashion update -

The Bruce Lee store are doing an offer through the Bruce Lee foundation where they donate a face mask for every one purchased.

At 12 dollars a hit and not medically graded, just a piece of cloth, their not the ultimate protection but still better than nothing and i am secretly trying to justify a purchase to myself - please dont judge :)

Just a little tip.
Next time, put the "please dont judge" in the beginning of the text.
By the time i saw that you asked to not be judged, i had already spent a bunch of time judging you.

I will add that i did judge you to be cool, so not that harsh judgement this time.

And we also have a problem. Since Bambi is of the judges, who will held him accountable if the need arises? This will require some philosophical thinking.

Nietzsche is always a great choice. Hegel too (I have no idea if he's a turtle though).

We need to resolve this. It's is a huge problem. Otherwise this place will descent into a state of anarchy. Soon there will be derailed threads, all kinds of fluff, memes and gifs flying all over the place. And documentaries about nature.

Don't feel bad. At least I got to correct someone elses typing for once. It's exhausting to fix my own typos all the time. I've already given up on grammar all together. Rather than trying to learn English, I've started studying 2 new languages in the quarantine.

I also also expect to fail miserably on those projects.

Edit: tried to correct grammar

If this is true then China should be boycotted by the entire world!

Complete nonsense article riddled with falsehoods and omissions. I'll give that article 5/5 Pinnochios. :D

Even if they had first cases in early December, they most probably did not know all details. There are dozens of clusters of unknown pneumonia detected every year and the utmost part are not going any further. You can read on the WHO website the stages from detection to declaring a global pandemic.

It's funny how they omitted in the list the 6th or 7th Jan (can't remember exactly) when China handed over the genome of the virus. Even when going by the 6th December 2019 for the first known case, that is 1 month.

Compare it to the 2009 Swine flu records and you will see very little difference between the two in regards to time periods, reporting and actions.

I agree Harry, but their arrests of Wuhan physicians and subsequent coverup is highly contentious, to say the least.

I don't trust them 100% either. It looks suspicious but China is like that. They will not let anyone spread such stuff be it with news about an illness, problems with the economy etc etc.

It does not necessarily mean they covered it up. No country will blast out within days that they have a potential pandemic event on their hands and lock everything down.

Either way, the problem with COVID-19 has not been handled much differently to SARS, H1N1 or MERS. The time periods are very similar.

What is though totally different is the asymptomatic transmission. This is something totally new when it comes to influenza or coronaviruses. We have a "silent" spread without us knowing it and that raises the infection rate from about 1.1 for normal viruses to ATM calculated 2 to 4 for COVID-19.

Meaning 1 person with influenza will infect on average 1.1 people and coronavirus 2 to 4 people. Here's a good comparison for 1.1 for influenza VS 2 for coronavirus. Now add to that that you can't detect it and most countries didn't do anything for up to 2 months after it was clear that human transmission was happening.

To be fair but wasn't China heavily criticized over their response to Sars? Also when they locked down Wuhan they didn't allow anybody to go anywhere in China but allowed people to leave Wuhan to outside China including Chinese citizens. In the end, China lied and people are dying because of incompetence and basically not giving a shit about other countries. But hey, when economies lie in tatters Chinese companies will sweep in and buy up failing businesses and factories worldwide and continue their soft power imperial colonization.
In the meantime, they are discriminating openly against westerners and Africans that never left China during the epidemic by forcing them into mandatory quarantine but leaving their spouses/children alone and not letting them into local businesses. People seem to be afraid to call out China and their behaviour but forget that the CCP is a despicable authoritarian government system that actively tries and destroy minorities in their own country, are openly racist towards non-Chinese people. When other countries like Australia call for a multi-country inquiry they are threatened with economic sanctions. If they had nothing to hide then they would react in this way?

If China had taken more stringent measures just a week or two earlier when they knew they had a big problem then the world would not be where we are now. Forgive me for being salty but the Chinese government must be held to account. Also, the WHO needs a major overhaul because they just parrotted back Chinese propaganda for the first few months.

Does your own country give a shit about other countries either?
I don't think my country cares that much about other countries either but we're doing fine here. It's just starting to sound like people are blaming China 'cause their own countries fucked up. It's always someone else's fault...never your own.
Sure China hid the problem as they tend to do, but we still knew in advance that the virus was coming. It still took months for european countries/US to do anything. We reacted only when there was a problem already, nothing was done in advance. Learn from it please!
I do hope China becomes more open society 'cause of this but this endless hostility won't help with that. We need cooperation, not some idiotic blame game that doesn't help anyone. I really do hope Europe takes very different road than the US. US is doing its' propaganda 'cause some orange guy needs to win an election and nothing is his fault ever. So obviously China and the WHO are the culprits. Hopefully the EU will try to cooperate with China and information will flow more freely after this.

Well, in this case, it is China's fault. Taiwan tried to warn the WHO but due to political pressure placed on the WHO by China did not allow Taiwan membership into the WHO and were ignored. This virus came from wet market right??? Close to a lab that studies Coronavirus in BATS. I am not saying it was man-made but I do believe it came from a lab. I am not getting my information from any western propaganda but I am getting it from people who know how China works. We totally forgotten how the Chinese government cautioned against stopping travel and trade from China (a stance that the WHO endorsed) well into February and to do so would be racist. I am not fond of what my country did in response to this pandemic either, they failed to protect people in eldercare facilitates and didn't start testing them until after March 10. Still at the end of the day if Wuhan was locked down just a week or two before it was then we wouldn't be dealing with a worldwide pandemic now. It's the attitude that this is how China works allow these situations to reoccur.
When I refer to China I am talking about the CCP, not the Chinese people. I think you are deluding yourself to think China will be more open after this because it's not. The only way to change the future outcome is to decouple from China economically. Everybody has a right to their own opinion.

Hah! People want their cheap stuff...that's why western countries started making many things in their factories. I don't see that changing any time soon. Let's see how many people are willing to pay 2x the price of an iPhone. So yeah good luck decoupling from China with our consumer habits.
Since it's highly unlikely that we will do that, it's better to try to cooperate with them. I might be deluding myself, but I don't see any better option at the moment.
We've tried locking down areas in western countries and the virus still keeps spreading. It's pretty hard to lock things down that perfectly that the virus won't spread.

Never owned an iPhone and don't mind paying extra for quality goods. For most things I buy, I prefer to source locally as much as I can. I buy Android products that are as we speak moving some of their operations out of China. I actually went to buy groceries the other week and got a more expensive product because the cheaper one was made in China. People can do what they want and I have no control over what multi-national companies do but I can do my part and buy locally.

Wish more people did like you but yeah. What can you do...just gotta do your own part!

It is also very difficult to imagine China are being anywhere near truthful now, regarding their reporting of day to day cases. Today for instance they report one new case and haven’t reported any new deaths.

That for me is difficult to believe given the place it originated. They had a vast number of cases early on and as far as I am aware haven’t done anything different than most other countries yet for weeks they have been reporting only a handful of new cases and deaths each day whilst a lot of other countries such as Italy, Spain and the UK are still seeing thousands of new cases and hundreds of deaths per day.

If China’s figures are true then they need to let the rest of the world into their secret of how they did it because from what I am seeing lockdown alone wouldn’t be enough. If it was, the UK would surely have been in a similar situation by now but we are not.

The other countries that seem to be coping remarkably well with containing and minimising cases are South Korea (only a handful most days) and of course North Korea who are exempt because they claimed a while back to have zero cases. Possible I suppose as they are very strict on who can enter or leave the country. On the other hand they could have thousands of cases you wouldn’t know the truth.
