Paypal is a payment processor which is popular with ebay account users. Like Neteller but more widely accepted

Very straightforward to open up a paypal account. Just visit here www.paypal.com and register. You can then add funds to your paypal account much in the same way as with neteller or other online payment processors.

It would be easier if there were more methods available to donate. Insisting on PayPal is quite restrictive.

Easiest of all would be to get casino operators involved, and allow players to donate from their casino/poker accounts into the Casinomeister relief fund. Making it easier to donate will lead to more money being donated, and more quickly.
Since there are bound to be many other methods available, many members may well be using these.

I have some reservations about a leaderboard though, the "whales" could make the minnows appear mean, which might put them off donating altogether.

I do know that Haiti is among the poorest countries on Earth, and past troubles have left their infrastructure in a mess, so there is no question that help is needed, and quickly.

Thanks for the generous donations coming in. Much appreciated and I know we're making a difference.

The reason I'm using Paypal is because most US members have this (40% of the forum membership), and this is a ready-made plugin that didn't take much time to install.

As for the leaderboard - I don't think anyone looks bad making a donation. Some people have already given elsewhere so they may be strapped. So for the whales making others look bad - I wouldn't think so

Just another thought

I sent out Fan of Oxfam to everyone on my facebook list, it tells also how to donate on their page and gives some great info on just what they do in the world.

If everyone on the forum, who has a facebook account, sent a become a fan of this Org. and sent it out to their friends list, it would prolly generate more money, as alot of our real life friends dont gamble and what a better way to reach these folks and maybe get them to donate also as every little bit we do ,can only help.............laurie

I just want to let you know that when I went to donate, it popped up in German...everything on the page I was directed to. Knowing I initiated the transaction, I continued through it..(guessing what was printed) and made it through...when it was confirmed it changed to English...Just thought you should know in case others decide not to proceed with the transaction due to it being in a different language in the beginning. CASINO MEISTER GOOD INFO ! about using PAYPAL without a paypal account

Hi.

I have some info that might help anyone who wishes to donate money but doesnt want or cannot open a paypal account. There is a way to pay using paypal without an account.

Just in case someone wishes to donate money thru paypal, but does not have an account, of perhaps has had any issues with paypal in the past.

Anyway there is a way to set up a "pay using paypal" option, that does NOT require a paypal account. There is a check box on the log in page, that allows a person to pay without making an account.

This option should eliminate any issues someone might have when trying to donate and also this would also not require having to enter information other that what is needed for the single transaction at a time for donations.

I have no clue how to arrange this particular feature when setting up a pay using paypal page. I assume its only for "purchases" as opposed to sending money to another party without one.

John Abbotts website Trader Auction Games, has membership fees for certain levels, and I have paid using this option. So I know for a fact it is possible.


There have been many many people with paypal issues over the years , and I know my email address is linked to paypal and is now involved in a class action suit that stemmed from a purchase over 5 years ago. So sending from me is impossible. Also in order to use the option I mentioned it would have to be another email address.

I hope this info may be useful.

There are other factors in play to. Here in the UK we have a tax law called "gift aid", whereby the government add 28% to any donations made by taxpayers to any cause that has a license to operate as a charity here in the UK.
Casinomeister, on the other hand, has had offers to match donations made through the Casinomeister scheme. To maximise the value of any donations, we need to take advantage of the best donation match offer that is available at the time, and it would seem that the first target is to reach the $1M forum target on the progress bar above.

If further operators were to pledge to match donations by their players, even more could be raised.

Thanks all for the incoming donations. We're getting close to the 4k mark which is great.

I'm going to close off the donations this Friday instead f next week, mainly because I'll be on the road that week in London and too busy to monitor this.

I'm also bringing the goal post down some since the donations are mostly from players; many companies have already made donations (as well as a number of players) to other charities.

This is not going to be open for long enough.

I have reactivated my PayPal account, but I have to go through various verification hoops before I can actually USE it.

It takes 7-9 days to confirm a bank account - too long.

I have connected my debit card, but again I have to wait, and enter a verification code from my bank statement before I can use it.

Interestingly, my PayPal seems to be running under dual currencies, the USD (primary) and UK Pound (secondary), so it looks like I can get PayPal to handle the conversion.

The fees are higher than I thought though. To pay via credit card, they add 3.4% +20p, and the BANK then adds a FURTHER 3% or more if the transaction hits the card in US Dollars. Funding with a credit or debit card is not allowed, only by bank transfer through preset direct debit. Cards can only be used as a connected back-up method if a payment exceeds the existing balance.

The 1 that was there a while ago has now vanished.

I am ashamed to report that I can't find the PM you sent out with the paypal email addy in it.

I have already sent some, (wish I had known sooner so I could double all that I wanted to send) but what I'd really like to do is provide the email addy on my facebook, if that is okay with you, which I assume there's not a lot I can do to cause you any further harm than already will /may be done by giving out your paypal address in the first place.

So to catch my friends so that their donations can get the Ayre double effect too.

I should know how to retrieve the PM but I couldn't on first attempt so rather than waste further time ... I thought I"d just ask if you could provide it again on here?

If you select your country from the drop/down list, the page will reload in a different language - it worked for me but took sometime to find it since its Kanada in German.

thanks. since I have already opened the PM with the Paypal address in it, and can't figure out why / where it went after that, i no longer have the paypal address which is necessary to send funds.

and actually I've already given but thought I could pass the paypal address along at facebook and get people there to donate thru Bryan and that way get the amounts doubled thanks to Calvin.

this is frustrating because I'm pretty sure my friends will donate so they should take advantage of Calvin's offer to get their money doubled instead of donating somewhere else.

The problem seems to be that the donation is recorded too early. Even the act of following the link, and bailing because the form comes up in German, is enough for Vortran to think a donation has been made. You really should send that bunch of bolts to college

The second problem is that you get further, but find the PayPal "hoops" mean you have to bail and try again later when your method has been "verified".

I created my PayPal account in 2003 for a subscription payment to a website about Fruit Machine "insider info", and have never used it since.

When I received notice of this offer I got a letter from CM and one from another forum, which I think was from CAP but I naturally I can't find the letter. I imagine I deleted it when I chose to come here instead.

anyway what's important is helping these people out, so since Paypal has shut down things here at CM, Bryan do you know what other possible places there are that people could make their donation and then have it doubled by Ayres?

As mentioned I got two letters so I know there's at least one other place also doing this.

Sorry I can't offer more but maybe if not Bryan, then somebody else will read this and pick up the ball and run with it (offer a second place taking donations).
