Further to a recent discussion in another thread I thought it worthy of this topic to have its own thread (as well as to not add fuel to the thread in which this topic was first started)

In that thread I asked

"I would love to be given direction to any information that proves that the UKGC or any other regulator have been working in tandem with casino's and gambling industry experts over recent years in order to find solutions to issues that effect the gambling industry"

Which I was given the reply-

"They actually regularly do workshops and consultations with operators around certain issues, for example:

"

My response was

"Thank you for opening my eyes. How long have they been conducting these workshops and has anything constructive came out of them yet? This is the first time I have been made aware of the UKGC or other regulators included consumers and industry reps in their studies and it would be great to learn of any other casinos experiences with such consultations.

One other question. Do such consultations have any influence on a Casino's willingness to participate in fora such as Casinomeister given what is contained in the pages in your link? "

It would be interesting to learn more about these consultations ongoing and what both casino's and posters have to say on this issue?

If the UKGC had a good read of this great forum, they would know everything they need to know about their industry, the player issues, frustrations, good points, bad points etc Forget focus groups, they have a huge focus group here and for free!!!

Lol why “for free” couldn’t Brian run all the polling they needed on various issues/strategy’s for a fee??

Hey GeordieColin,

Yes I remember this post, and my apologies for not responding - I didn't see your additional questions.

These workshops have been going on since 2014 I believe, possibly earlier. I could ask our Compliance Manager for more information when she gets back from holidays.

There is a consultation happening at the moment here:

You can fill out the online survey at the bottom of the page to give your own feedback. It might be worth posting active consultations as they happen in this thread, so forums members have an opportunity to engage with the regulator.

These consultations do influence updates to the LCCP. They publish reports with an overview of the responses once the consultations are finished, so it's quite a transparent process.

Rachel.

Hi Rachel and thanks for the reply :)
So there is a possibility that the industry may be forced to provide gambling blocking software free of charge to the consumer? Is this the same software that ThePogg has so generously worked on and provides for free to anyone who wishes to use it? ( If so maybe you could reassess your tariffs Pogg? :p )

I also understand that the UKGC, Government and the industry are in consultations about restricting or even banning the use of credit cards in order to deposit. There seems to be no mention of the consumer being involved in these consultations. Will such a draconian measure ever be implemented? I can see it effecting impulse spenders mostly.
Do other jurisdiction's and gambling bodies such as cup o cocoa and Malta conduct similar workshops and consultations?

I wish I could answer some of those questions but i I would only be speculating. We hear about new LCCP updates in the press releases, we don't get any advance notice in private. I'm not sure regarding Malta, and I would highly doubt any such processes are in place in Cup O Cocoa!

I get you,thanks.
One last question for now. If they implement a ban on the use of credit cards to make deposits in the UK how much will that effect your business in the UK and will it see many casino's turn their backs on the UK market?
