hi all

i am very upset i made a 50.00 purchase yesterday with a casino, i tried to deposit at another casino and it wouldnt go through, so im saying to myself i know i have the funds (i write down every transaction i make) so i go to my cc statement to see what was up and i see that this casino has double debited my cc 1 has already been paid the other is in pending, so i went to live chat and of course they state they only charged me once, but on my statement it is clearly 2 xs for the 50.00, i took a snap shot of my statement an emailed them the attachment so they do not think i am lying, the live chat tell me i have to wait for it to fall off, it is not their fault they tell me, but i said it was your casino that claimed the two 50.00 purchases so in my eyes it is their fault. so now the waiting game, waiting to see if they claim it of which i will be most unhappy, or if i get it back in 10 days after not being claimed. i just needed to vent, it was the only funds i had left to play, i just lost my job after several years my branch has closed its door so everyone is out of work, and trust me in florida the unemployment payments are not even half the money i was making ugggg. but life goes on. thank you all for listening to me vent.

If you are using a Netspend Visa, it is not the casino, it is Netspend. They are now doing this for casino transactions. If the deposit was for $50 or less, it will fall off in a week. $100 or more takes 30 days. I have one that has been sitting for almost 30 days. Will fall off around the 25th. Nothing I can do about it and believe me I have tried.

This might need to be in American the Beautiful.

i dont mean to sound harsh but in such a dire situation dont you think that maybe the 50.00 could have been better spent rather than playing online casinos?

This is where the problems can start. When you lose a huge part of your life, you are faced with one hell of a lot of time on your hands, and this can lead to an increase in an expensive hobby, and at the same time that a decrease in disposable income comes along.

Although it would make things inconvenient for many, including me, there is a VERY STRONG CASE INDEED for the banning of CREDIT cards for online gambling transactions, and allowing ONLY DEBIT CARDS and other means where the stake is PREPAID, and not "borrowed".

Casinos are VERY good at enticing deposits by the offer of promotions, and it would be best to have SOME controls to prevent the potential development of problems, yet provide for the minimum inconvenience to players who feel they have the right to spend THEIR money as they see fit.

I am somewhat surprised that the UK Gambling Commission did NOT issue guidelines or regulations that would seek to prevent the use of borrowed money for gambling online. We consider a online casino that grants a player a line of credit to be rogue, yet this is effectively what is happening when CREDIT cards are used. A number of casinos even INSIST that players at least REGISTER a CREDIT card, and some, like Go Wild, INSIST on it being USED at least the once in order to qualify for what should in any case be NORMAL service, eg. prompt payment of withdrawals.

I think a CREDIT card ban would help in the wider sense, as it would mean more COMPETITION, and casinos would be fighting for a smaller pot of money, and this would be money the player has AT THE TIME, and while promotional absolute amounts might be smaller, the QUALITY would improve, perhaps higher percentages of bonuses, or smaller qualification requirements for post wager reward promotions. On top of this, the industry would increase its moral credentials when it comes to efforts to combat out of control gambling sprees (going "on tilt").

VWM,

I thought the use of "real" credit cards in the US was not allowed anymore. And debit cards are getting harder to use because of Netspend holding charges that are flagged as casinos.

But it all boils down to this, it's not what you use to deposit, it's how you use it. If you spend your rent money from the debit card or run your Visa charge card up, it's really all the same.

I won't name the bank or ewallet in question, because it's out in the open and not in the "America" section, but I've used a CC with an ewallet within the past few months without any problems at all. I've also been able to use my debit card at certain poker rooms directly....both were Visa's.
