Casino Checks drawn @ Citibank NY

It seems all MG casinos use the same processor. The checks have Citibank but only payable in NY. I have one for $1100.00. I could deposit it but I would rather cash it at a check cashing place. Has anyone done this and if you did, did it clear OK?

I SUGGEST DEPOSITING IT

You might be able to find some shady operator to cash it for a fee, but I suggest depositing it.

Also, deposit on its own. As long as your total deposit is less than $5000.00 if you have a good banking relationship with your bank your hold should be next business day, no more than 2 business days.

If they try to hold it longer, ask them if they can contact the payable bank so that you don't have to wait so long.

They probably will only hold it like all checks unless you have the funds in your account to cover it then it should be available immediately.

Since it is a Payable Through check you probably wont find a check cashing place or bank that will cash it straight out

I'd deposit it at a bank. I'd go through the drive thru, hand them the check and deposit slip, and forget about it for at least a month.

You cash it at a check cashing place... what if the check bounces? It's happened. There's a thread in the complaints section about it. Some of these check cashing outfits are run by ... shall we say... less than reputable people who might sue -- or break legs -- depending on the amount of money.

Just my (paranoid) 2 cents worth.
