Can I Disable Old Threads

Is there a way to disable reading threads over say 6 months old,
only a few times now ive started reading a thread but found it started back in 2006-7 and someone has dug it up from the archives,

is there a way to ummm lik emark your spot in a thread sometimes they get to be 15 pages long an I have to skim over each page to get to where I left off??
