Well I dunno. Back when it was released big wins of big reels & stacked symbols in the bonus were quite common (which was what got me really into it) but now even if I get a bonus it's invariably destroyed by large swaths of dead spins and I reckon my chance of hitting a bonus now that actually pays 100x+ is about 0.5 in 10. So I only really play the game now for the nostalgia when I've won elsewhere.
Have the decent wins moved to the £2+ spin part of the game?
Although @dunover hits some nice wins on his £2+ spins here & there he also loses a fair bit to offset against that. I do enjoy watching his sessions. Injecting his humour & cat struggles into the mix make it entertaining

Yes, the bonus rounds did used to produce far bigger wins. The stacked symbols (6oak) would pay regularly and set up another big cascade that would produce again. Now, you can see 95% of the time, the next cascade is almost certainly going to produce nothing as everything is blocked off or highly unlikely to connect.

The amount that pay less than x100 has increased dramatically and most contain 6 dead spins. Other things that used to happen include, back to back bonus rounds (not often obviously but it happened). Multiplier hitting over x30. Haven’t seen that for ages. The 117 producing 3 or 4 successive cascades that all paid big. Sessions that regularly produced between 5 and 10 bonus rounds. If you hit 3 or 4 now it’s something out of the ordinary.

What makes me smile is that certain players say that raging rhino (most notably) and other games have changed but when I state that Bonanza has, I am imagining it and it hasn’t and people start posting things about the human brain finding patterns that aren’t there. Talk about double standards. Jeeeez!!!

The only way for Bonanza to ever bare its loins to the player is to continuously feed it, because it works in completely cyclical patterns of 'dead' and 'recompense mode', of which the latter does eventually come around, the reason why most will persevere with it at all.

Still, it's the most compensated game I've seen in slotdom, it doesn't even make any bones about it. When the shill-protestations begins anew and the explanations start a-flowin' as to its suspect-yet-predictable 'gameplay', I raise an eyebrow and scratch my nuts in disbelief, and start muttering something to myself, because I'm all out of laughter at this point (and probably have crabs - might have to get that checked)

And Dazza. Dazza, Dazza, Daz, The DazMeister. What's there to say? Without getting misty- eyed about his older content, fact is a workman's only good as his tools. Modern slots are shit, whereas back in the day he'd cram so many good games into his vids because there were so many good games. We all loved the Wild Rockets, Rhino and Starburst sessions he did, but barring the self- flagellating Bonanza vids, the only blame lays at the door of the companies that keep messing with their portfolio, and the shit-pit industry itself.

LOL.. I miss those days. Rhino went when it changed to the clunky, slow html5 version. Twin Spin, nerfed RTP made it unplayable. I never played Starburst (only a punishment video, I hate it!) but Wild Rockets was fun, now disappeared into the Netent ether alongside other good games like Evolution, another I would play. One I would play if it was still around, even ahead of Bonanza was IGT's brilliant Dungeons & Dragons - Fortress of Fortunes but that went years ago. So to get a 96% RTP, and because it hasn't been nerfed, I am Bonanza only. Boring, but reliably exciting on occasion. I think the satisfying sound of the 'D' banging in gives a thrill like no other slot, a precursor to disappointment mostly, kinda like bedding the fittest bird in the nightclub only to wake up in the morning to find you're lying next to a foul-mouthed harridan...

I gave it a try last night and it was the worst I have ever seen it play. Absolute shite, like playing a game that’s broken. Dead spin after dead spin, I actually opened the session with 18 dead spins. A couple of years ago 5 dead’s in a row was considered bad. Now 10 in a row is the new norm.

BTG are losing face rapidly. They haven’t released a remotely decent slot for ages now so have gimped their popular slots to compensate. Although they made a couple of good slots early on, they have released some absolute flops too.

So in essence, the base game ought not to be as erratic as it is, as most of the RTP is tied into it, and yet it plays like clammy dog balls.

Also worth noting that the game, without fail, switches itself off after any meaningful player returns, breaking rank and playing completely different to the point, and build up, to that win. the thing is i used to play 60 80p and a pound and £2 alternating but when the game changed it was just financial suicide to play these stakes and akin to setting money on fire this slot barely gets higher stakes from me anymore as it’s not like it was, on the odd occasion i’ve gone higher bonuses don’t drop in at all anymore on them stakes so i gave up and it only gets 20p from me these days with the odd 40p

i think playing Bonanza, and expecting even a w/d, on 20p is just death by 1000 cuts, at best. Tend to now play it as 50 in, 60p-1 quids: aye, you bust out quicker but at the end of the day it's not DOA in terms of X wins (it's not even Reactoonz 2, to be fair)

Pretty sure as well i've went longer on 20ps with no bonus, than i have 60p-1 quids.

At the moment it's playing better for me on the higher stakes - even made the VS XP, first time in ages, taking money out as opposed to the usual 600 quid on 1-2's. If not careful when it turns on higher stakes you can easily fire 5 50's in it with no play.

You just need to have discipline and close the game if, giving nothing on 60ps etc on a 50 balance, to just walk away, as hard as that is sometimes when it GOL's on the second last spin

On Bonanza every few months or so I would get a 100s of x win on 20p stake which made it exciting for me but no more for a long, long time now.
If I managed to hit 100x now I would consider it the 'top prize' now on 20p stake which is dismal in comparison to what I used to see. Something about the game changed there.
