Ever the conspiracy theorist I have come to accept that some games use different reel sets in both base and bonus rounds and that in the long term this will average out (allegedly) so the slot maintains trtp. Still not as random as I would class random but I can see the argument people are making.

However having thought about games like WWTBAM or CHILLI where you can gamble your spins that seems a variable too far for me.

If hitting a higher number of spins genuinely increases your chance of a big hit ( and a big part of me thinks it makes no difference) then how is this factored into the rtp unless something else is controlling the overall rtp.

What I am saying is when a game is made, providers will not have a clue how many people are likely to gamble or at which stage they will collect the spins etc,etc.

With all these variables, extremities and possibilities with a megaways game that are virtually beyond calculation but at the same time should be possible, to state a game has a return of 96% and when checked (ahem) it is running pretty close, then you would have to think there is an overriding factor somewhere that keeps everything looking how it should.
