I have said it many times before in various formats but love it or hate it Bonanza is a masterpiece in terms of design.
Something deep in the human psyche draws certain people to certain things. A lot of us will like certain things but not really understand why. Others will like things you don’t like and you don’t understand why.
An example of this is the roulette wheel. In theory every number has exactly the same chance of hitting next but if you watch where the bets are placed prior to the next spin you will see people have favourite numbers on which they place their bets.
These are not always numbers they consider lucky in any other day to day activity or way. Something deep in our psyche draws us to them but we don’t quite know why. It could be the design of the wheel and how the numbers are arranged or the way the numbers appear on the betting table.
Certain numbers are definitely more popular than others. Some that are popular include 7, 8, 11, 14, 17, 20, 23, 26, 28, 29, 32 and 0.
Some are definitely less popular these include 15, 19, 25, 31, 33, and 34.
This doesn’t apply to everyone obviously. Some people will say my favourite number is 25 but if you asked roulette players to choose their 4 favourite numbers on the wheel the top 11 numbers would definitely be amongst the most popular.
I don’t have a strong favourite number in everyday life if asked I always used to say 4 or maybe 16 for no particular reason. Once I started playing roulette it became 8, or 10. Again for no particular reason other than something deep in my psyche must be (is) drawn to something about that part of the wheel. I can’t explain it, it just is. Hence my user name containing my 4 favs that are adjacent 5, 10, 23, 8.
Crikey

when it comes to wandering off at a tangent and rambling Ronnie Corbett would be proud of that one (at least he was funny you say).
Anyway wether it was created purposely or inadvertently apart from the fact it’s a cosmetically attractive and well designed slot I am certain there is something deep in our psyche that attracts us to the relentless beast. How else can you explain a thread this long mainly full of moans and groans yet here we all are still playing it.
