You can tell Bonanza is playing shite when everyone is posting. Anyway here is a “Blue Peter” type solution that I think we could all benefit from. (It’s nothing new and fairly obvious and no you don’t have to send me milk bottle tops!)

Okay I used to make a small profit for quite some time playing online. It must have just been a lucky spell as now I can’t win a dime.
I have reduced my deposits significantly but still waste too much time and money slotting.

If we are honest we probably all spend a little more than we would like at times. I am a self confessed compulsive gambler but I have learnt to control it (took years and losses of 6 figures), I am not proud of my past.

I have never stopped gambling more got worn out with it over the years and at this moment online is my gambling place. I love a game of poker but since I moved further away from the nearest land based casino I very rarely bother going now.

Anyway I am doing a “Ronnie Corbett” here digressing too much (when I was younger I didn’t realise just what an art that was and how incredible he was at doing it). Difference is he was funny!

(Yawn) Back to the plan. Like I said it’s nothing new but it could help us all a little bit. Gambling is a habit all you have to do is make this your new habit. Get yourself a money box or similar. Lock it and give the key to someone you trust, if you don’t trust yourself and tell them not to let you have it back until the date agreed.

Every time you go to make a deposit online, withdraw the cash instead and post it into the box. I know it sounds a bit childish but if you could leave it for a few months and not keep track of how much you put in you will be surprised how it mounts up. You will also have a nice sum of money that you would have probably lost on slots.

I am going to try this as I am tired of slots and the same old cycle of bollox. Guaranteed 100% rtp can’t be bad.

Done similar mate and it is a good plan, my deposits are a lot lower these days anyway so I did it for cutting the fags down instead.

Left my box at work, only the pharmacist himself and his wife knew of the arrangement, none of the other staff and all I did was chuck £2-£3 in maybe once or twice a week.

Went on for unknown weeks and did not keep track of what I'd put in.

Asked to be allowed to have it during my week off work, used to take kids out (or at least put towards) a trip of some description.

Rough estimate of 3-4 months saving and a shock at nearly £100 when I had it back.

This is just with basically 'pennies' so your idea with an average (or even half) a deposit could yield a very nice surprise indeed!

Seriously though for me it’s not necessarily the money, it’s the time and I don’t enjoy it like I did before. I am playing more through habit than anything.

I just thought if some of us buy into it we can start a thread and encourage each other and have end of the month open the box or whatever time period you set. The longer you leave it the better because you will lose track especially if you put your loose change in now and again (50p upwards) and you will have something to look forward too.

To be honest I have just decided I will open a thread and invite all members to participate and if nobody wants to do it then it will just be me.

Part of you feeling sorry for them? This is not something you can only pledge allegiance to if you give up slotting. It’s not for problem gamblers only. It’s what you want out of it.

There is another route you could take and this may apply to myself at times. You cut down your slotting time by x% and those deposits go in the box. The other times you play slots if you withdraw you put the winnings in the box.

That I feel could be beneficial as just withdrawing it to your bank etc just means you are likely to redeposit and lose more quickly as it just gets treated as bonus money.
