Good guessing some of you. That was an easy one just to get you warmed up

When spoken, Weibier translates roughly to Woman beer (?!) you forgot the "ß" - the sharp "s" that makes it Weissbier :p

Hell means "light" as in light in color. It is no way "light" in content (5.2% alcohol and about 250 calories) - There are "Dunkel" (dark) and "Hell" (light) Weißbiers. I prefer darker beers in the winter months as opposed to the lighter kind which is consumed in the Spring and Summer. A little beer info for you :D

...

This is true.
German hell = the English are in charge of the food.
English hell = the Germans are in charge of the comedy. :p

That "ß" didn't come out when I copied it...lol

I'm not a drinker, neither is my husband. I used to drink when I was young, but never tried any other kinds of beer except the usual...bud/coors/molsen/etc...I was more of a vodka girl :D

Can Americans purchase these beers here in the USA? And can you purchase Budweiser where you are?

Yes most good distributors have all kinds of imports. Not your local grocery store but usually a specialty liquor store type place. There is a place down the road from me that is set up like a warehouse, they have beer from everywhere.

If you are in a place with such good beer (aka Germany) would you WANT Budweiser? LOL. I am not a drinker but I do know that when I have the occasional beer I am not a big fan of the bud (bud is for smokin';)).

? for CM- I have heard Belgium has the best beer, do you think that is true or are you a German beer diehard?

If you like your beer warm, come to Britain:D

Interesting...like I said, I'm not a drinker, so I have no idea.

I was wondering if CM could actually get Bud, not that he would drink it. :D

There are quite a few distributers in the States that ship these beers, but it's more expensive. For instance: Erdinger Hefe Weissen goes for about $2.39 per half liter bottle at Ralphs (before tax). For the same beer, I pay about 80 cents (after tax if any). And there are cheaper beers here as well.

The American Budweiser that you're thinking of is not available here - at least I've never seen it. In fact, I've never seen an American beer here. Even though there are some good US Microbreweries - they can't be compared to German beer especially when shipping costs are factored in. There is a Czech Budweiser - the original - and it's really quite good. But this has nothing to do with the American version except for it's name.

Belgium has good beer - and so does the Czech Republic (they make some of the best Pilsners BTW). When I purchase beer at home, I tend to lean towards the local breweries - and believe me, there are plenty to choose from. I live in Bavaria, and it's known for its Weissbiers and Pilsners. So there ya have it. :p
