Betfred 20% max wager after receiving bonus

Some of you may recall a thread about a month ago from a punter who claimed they did not believe they had pressed the spin button on a slot that exceeded the 20% max wager whilst playing with a bonus at Betfred (claimed initially may have been a technical issue). This came to light when a request to withdraw for $7.5k was submitted.

It initiated great debate and I personally felt BF was a bit harsh (on face value) as it was only one spin in error that yielded no extra win.

Well the same happened to me yesterday and I felt compelled to post to advise what happened. I exceeded my max wager in error (by $1) for one spin that also produced no win.

I jumped straight onto chat and spoke with their customer service, explained what happened and asked how this would impact on me should I withdraw. At this stage I had about $800 in my balance.

To their credit, they accepted my claim that I erred and the gent advised he would put a note on my account to the effect that I had made contact immediately, admitted it was an error on my part, and whilst the wager would not count towards my playthrough requirements, I would not be further penalised. So should I wish to withdraw, I was assured I would have no problem (I kept a copy of the transcript just in case).

This is how I would expect it to play out, I just did not think I would be establishing that with them. Well done BetFred

Well I can only say ...you were lucky  Thumbs up for going straight on chat rather than trying to keep on playing and hoping they won't find out.
I'm not playing in Betfred for this any many other reasons.

If there wasn't an earlier thread on this I doubt whether the OP would have contacted the casino immediately. The casino may also not have responded in the way it does now. I am pleased it worked out well and hope the OP wins a bundle.

The thread had nothing to do with my actions - I was applying a common sense approach which I think most players would if in the same situation. My posting back to the forum was only to provide clarity on this scenario with BF specifically - in this case, whilst I broke the bonus rules they granted a concession in good faith whereby legally they could have refunded my original deposit and told me to do my best.
