As when you go fishing, you have to entice the fish to bite with some tasty bait.
In this case, the casino presumes that if you have not played in a long while, you have probably uninstalled the casino.
By offering up some bait, they are hoping for a bite - you reinstalling the casino to play the free chip. If you do, they KNOW for SURE you have reinstalled the casino, and can follow up with an even "tastier" enticement to get you to start depositing again.

Casinos where you are an active player do not need to entice you to deposit and play, you do so already, so their birthday offers are really just that, an extra offer over and above the normal promotional fare.

It is rather telling that the casino you play at the most has given you sweet FA, they don't need to entice you back, and clearly don't feel it necessary to offer up a birthday present.

This all fits what I have found, stop playing somewhere, and they try hard to get you back, yet often the reason you stopped in the first place was because they didn't seem to notice you, and offered very little compared to the competition, and what they ADVERTISED as benefits on their own sites.

im gonna answer my own question and say 3DICE are the best for b'day freebies as i was almost positive there would be 1 there..
it was'nt the most TIV won that 1

but i lost them all and failed to withdraw a cent

This is not how I was describing the "fishing trip". You refer to giving your REGULAR players a birthday bonus. This is what I meant about birthday extras that are genuinely "goodwill gestures", or gifts.

The enticement aspect is where a casino ignores you, even your birthday, whilst you deposit regularly, but if you stop for a while, will suddenly notice you have gone, and make you an "enticing" offer to return.

Some casinos do this, only to make a complete dog's breakfast of it by subjecting the player to even more of the treatment that made them stop playing in the first place - but now I am on the subject of Ladbrokes, and their "enticement" that caused me to deposit 200, after which they dug up some extra ruls that were NOT in the email, nor the claim form, to disqualify me. This is an example of how NOT to do it, as I now have a far more NEGATIVE view of them than I would have done had they simply not made an offer in the first place. It all boils down to their shoddy and disjointed customer service, the reason I uninstalled the casino in the first place, and the reason I am simply not interested in the "bait" William Hill keep sending to get me interested in their new Playtech offering. Kiwi and Fastwin (now in the pit), repeatedly dump free chips in my account in an effort to get me back, and they have never jerked me around in the past, but the owners have changed, and I am well read (this forum), so they do not realise they are up against it in trying to get me back.

It's my birthday soon (25th), so I will be able to say what I got, and whether there appeared to be any ulterior motives.

Birthday (and Christmas/Easter) bonus threads are started on a regular basis. We get to see who gets what, but it doesn't trigger a bonus war other than a few reps offering a few $10 or so chips to "left out" players - hardly THOUSANDS
