I just would like to make my objection in the fact that I have a AOL email addy, and felt penalised in having to change my email addy, just because some person decided to place "Casinomeister Forum" emails unto their spam folder.

I for one read most of Casinomeister Forum emails and have never place it in my AOL "spam" folder, therefore felt unjustified that I should have to change my email, because of some other ppl's action:(

Hope my objection counts here!!!

Unfortunately there's nothing that Bryan can do about it, AOL was the one who decided to treat Casinomeister mail as spam.

AOL sucks anyway... you did yourself a favor by getting a different email address. :D

I agree. I have GMail and it's the best free one out there.

No offense but if you are from the UK, why would you voluntarily pay for something American (AOL)? :what:

You also have The Yahoo Mail that is free.
I had AOL for 6 years because I did'nt know better.
And at this time you will never lose your AOL acct because that's free now too.And what a treat it is looking in my AOL and finding 250 Emails a day.

It's more than that. If I read his post correctly, then someone actually complained to aol that emails they received from Bryan were spam.

I have to jump on the bandwagon here about gmail. I use it and have ever since it came out, and I love it!

AOL is a mindless beast, and it's nothing but a pain in the ass for every webmaster.

It was the last complaint that was the last straw. I've received about 20 in the last few months. All of these include members who have subscribed to threads or are receiving administrative emails - and they are too lazy to access their account and turn these off. When they put these emails into the spam filter - casinomeister.com gets reported as spam which is about a bogus as one can get (these members had requested these emails).

I recommend gmail - I've never had problems there, and it's free.

I couldn't agree more.

I feel a rant coming on...

@asidea, I don't think your going to find too many good websites out there right now that will allow people to register and have an account using an AOL email address.

AOL's bogus SPAM reporting has actually hurt far too many innocent websites for smart site owners to continue to accept AOL email addresses.

After you get a call, threating to pull the plug on your business, because of some bull shit SPAM report from AOL... well lets just say, it don't make you feel all warm and cozy inside. (Been there... Done that)

Websites are also hurt when AOL makes a bogus SPAM report and the website gets their domain name (business name) on a email blacklist where emails from your domain will NOT be received by about 95% of the people on earth.

BTW - So far the real evil email spammers are having a heyday (in case you haven't noticed). This bogus AOL SPAM reporting is not hurting them a bit...

So... If you want to object to someone, object to AOL their the ones that have forced this kind of a reaction from website owners.

and get yourself a gmail account for goodnes sake... ;)

I dig their broadband low paid package..lmao!!

Ty ppl for all your comments and help..looks like gmail is my next stop!!;)

asidea, it sounds like you're already on the move which is good. AOL really is a PITA and in a previous webmaster job we banned AOL email addresses years ago.

A lot of problems happen because someone complains to AOL about a given site, for whatever reason, and FOREVER after that AOL will reject emails going to it's "members" from that site. In other words it's in your best interest and the interest of every other CasinoMeister member _not_ to use AOL because they are effectively censoring your email simply because someone, somewhere, somewhen complained.

Needless to say this causes endless problems with registrations, emails to members using AOL, etc. It's largely because AOL is so big and so unresponsive that there's nothing they care to or will do to address these types of problems.

.....hey winbig that was easy, just opened an account for my company so that i dont have to keep using my personal addy for the biz. thanks..........laurie:)

Just a heads up that I'll be purging the system on Friday. If you are using an AOL email address for your account, it will be deactivated until it's changed.

Sorry 'bout dat - but that's the way it goes...

Just a heads up that the purging will continue until sometime tomorrow. Those who still have AOL accounts will be placed into the Dormant Accounts section and will be unable ot access the forum.

Don't say I didn't warn ya. :D

And during this process, I'm rather surprised at the amount of meister members, senior members and fully registered members who frequent the forum quite often, yet they still have AOL email addresses. I've already made several announcements, I've been updating this thread, and even made announcements in the newsletter. Still there are a number of members who were here even yesterday...

Oh well, you can't say you weren't warned (unless you aren't reading the forum)

i use also AOL and changed my address to a yahoo account, but i wonder, because the mails from casinomeister is also going into spam ordner

maybe i should change it again to a GMX account what i also have ?

the mails from casinomeister is also going into spam ordner
Yahoo email is more opt-in now than it used to be. The user needs to let the Yahoo email program know what is spam and what is not, according to the user.

After you mark the emails from CasinoMeister as NOT SPAM in Yahoo mail, a couple of times, CasinoMeister emails should go straight into your inbox without a problem.
