Been reading up on the new Lord Of The Rings slot that WMS launched in July and see it hit Vegas a month or two ago. Has anyone played it yet? Seen some vids on Youtube and it looks really good, in the mould of Star Trek.

Wondered if it's possible to get anything decent on?

Cheers

I haven't seen it... Is it just me or do WMS Games really suck.. Poor features and game play and is not as exciting as Aristocrat / IGT.

Maybe they are upping their game, but B&M's have more of the above Slots than WMS on any given day...

Well, Star Trek was awesome and Zeus II is a total favourite of mine. In fact last time I was in Vegas I spent as much time on the WMS games like those 2 and Wizard of Oz as I did on IGT games. But check out some of the Youtube videos - LOTR looks pretty good I think, several different bonus features too plus like Star Trek it has the seat with Bose surround-sound in the headrest! That really immerses you. In fact I'm looking forward more to playing that in Vegas than I am the MG one now LOL.

Just got an email from Go Wild Casino saying Lord Of The Rings goes live on their site on Thursday

Ah thats the Microgaming version Steve...I'm referring to the land-based slot which is a different beast

ive seen it never played it. Probably wont play it I have no luck on those WMS. I play max and rarely get a good pay. I think i may have once hit 3k on the wizard of oz by getting that bonus where they wave the wand and make the reels wild. And that was only 3k on max getting all the wilds. Maybe the next time im in there and drunk ill drop a few hundred just to tell you I lost.

Exactly.. for some reason the payouts suck like i mentioned above.. I have better results on Aristocrat (Gone Fishing; Sweet Hearts; 50 Lions; Indian Dreaming...) and IGT (Stinkin' Rich; Wolf Run... etc..) I also play Max and when i get the feature (although the screen is NOT stacked with wilds), the payouts are usually good.

Btw i Have the real 50 lions and Indian dreaming on PC :);)

you know waht now that you mention stinkin rich, everytime i go in the casino i see someone hitting stinkin rich for like 1-2k on a $1-$3 bet. I play anywhere from $10-$20 a spin on those and hit nothing ...if those were my jackpots they would be huge.

Ah yeah the emulator right? Any good?

Quite right..fun - Very realistic :)

Do u have the emu?

Especially if u get the FS with stacked wilds... the game is high variance though... had some great hits but had some losses too;)

Ok tried lotr

Ok becasue you posted it I tried it last night. First thing is the casino I was at was $2 max bet. I normally like the max bet to be more. Looks like a few different bonus rounds in the game, i only saw the one where it is randomally generated and the guy comes up and makes some of the reels wild. There looks to be a bonus where after so many spins it will automatically be activated, I played for a while and never got close to that taking place. There also looks to be a bonus where you get some type of power spin. It looks like with this feature is banked and you use it whenever you want by pushing the button where its stored. So esentially looks like a lot going on in the game but never saw any of it.

If memory serves, that's the same with WMS's Wizard of Oz too, certainly the ones I played at Encore anyway.

the casinos i play at wizard of oz was normally $3 max bet. When i go to another casino with lotr i will see if their max bet is different

Lord of the Rings ...

Hi Folks:

By now, Lord of the Rings has been out for a while. I am the moderator of the Player's Life website, and I would be happy to answer any questions you might have.

The game was two years in the making. There are 8 bonus rounds which can be eventually unlocked. There are also three special BONUS ROUNDS. They are all different, and based on events in the first movie. The game is in high def and developed by the same team that make Star Trek.

There is something called, "POWER SPINS" which are randomly awarded during play. You can collect the spins or use them right away. There are 5 different types of power spins.

The game award trophies to mark various milestones, and miles are randomly award (these unlock the BONUS ROUNDS). Once unlocked, the player chooses the bonus round.

The Player's Life website also allows players to earn free points on mini-games, so you can forward your progress in the game. You can earn up to 10free miles in the game.

There is a high score table, a casino finder, iPhone support, message forum, and all kinds of other stuff going on.

Probably sounds a bit like a sales pitch, but there are no other land-based machines that have as many features --- and more Player's Life games have been announced ... not to mention the Two Towers game under development.

So ... fire your questions ... and I am happy to answer. I don't expect everyone to like the game -- as it is different strokes for different folks.

This is my first post -- so, nice to meet everyone.

ive played it at MGM grand at foxwoods ,you can create a user name and password it keeps track of your events , im not shure what value this is .

random power spins awarded as different types of them about five can be used when ever you want and if you got more than one of each play x1 or x2
or x3 depending on how many you collect

a lot of earth shattering noise its entertaining ive won 250..$ once betting

Good question. If you think of a conventional land-based slot, there is usually one bonus round, or maybe two. By allowing you to save your progress, you can unlock BONUS ROUNDS, which should keep the game interesting for longer. It also adds objectives such as collecting trophies (for bragging rights).

The player can also choose when you use the POWER SPIN -- so you can accumlate -- and if you have more that one of a certain POWER SPIN type, you can use more than one.

The game also keeps track of your personal high scores for the individual bonus rounds.

Eh.

I played LotR slots at The Sahara for probably 6 hours over the 2 days I was there. A few things basically:

1.) Max bet is indeed $2, which sorta sucks if you want to bet a bit bigger.
2.) Milestone bonuses don't seem to have any rhyme or reason for when they were awarded. I had some awarded within less than ten spins of each other, and others that took 30 minutes or longer to show up.
3.) Progressing through the bonuses is pretty tedious, I would have liked more than two options up front, especially since starting with the Prancing Pony they are a lot more interesting. I managed to unlock through the 4th bonus I think, guess I'll have to wait for the others (if I return to play this slot again)
4.) Powerspins, cool idea but they are radically different in terms of which ones are worthwhile. The one that counts wins as scatters is pointless, the Frodo becomes 2x wild one is marginal at best as is the all wins multiplied, and btw, its dumb that that powerspin does NOT multiply bonus round wins, I powerspinned into a bonus and thought I was going to get a huge 10x my bonus score but only received the bonus score instead. Powerspinning that specific 5-25x multiplier into a bonus spin has got to happen practically never, so just ship the huge win the few times it happens since its completely counterintutitive. The Bonus powerspin that triggers the bonus if any ring shows up rather than needing 3 was by far the most fun followed by the random spin with 1-5 reels turning wild.
5.) The random spins where Golem or Leglolas show up and turn a bunch of the slots into wilds was a cool feature.

Visually/audio it was really impressive, great sound, had TONS of clips, I am pretty sure I never saw the same clip from the movie more than once or twice, and probably saw 30+ while playing.

Some of the bonuses features are very well thought out and designed.

Overall, I'd give this slot a B. Best slot I played on this Vegas trip was the Queen (band) video slot.

I concur :) I played this last week (finally!). Almost impossible to get a really big hit as all the 5oaks pay out quite small but that is obviously so they can fit so many features in. It's very entertaining though.

Good Reviews

Hi Guys:

Good feedback on "Lord of the Rings":

re:powerspins, cool idea but they are radically different in terms of which ones are worthwhile. The one that counts wins as scatters is pointless

WMS often calls this a "Super Scatter" in many of their games. In many cases, it does not pay the greatest. However, if you have a lot of WILDS on the screen, you can get 5-of-a-kind, pay over and over again, as the various 5-of-a-kind matches take place. So, a premium symbol, with plenty of WILDS can pay a lot. It just doesn't seem like it until you see how a good "Super Scatter" can pay.

ok first time i played it i didnt have the patience for it. Not very often I can say that about a slot machine. Well a few weeks ago i was at the casino and they have a bank of 4 of them. I decided to sit at one and wasnt too excited because i had seen the bet at $2 a spin and had wanted higher limits. Well when i sat down I was excited to see it was a $4 max bet. I was a little happier to play it. On the 3rd spin i got a bonus and gave two choices to select, I asked the guy next to me which one to select and he said fireworks. On the third spin i got some fireworks and 5 character which equaled about 100,000 coins ($1000) as the spins got to the last few i was really getting close to 120,000 coins and was pleading with the machine not to go over so it wouldnt be taxed. Well it went over and I wouldnt say i wasnt happy I hit it, I just hate when it goes over the taxable amount by a few dollars. Well after the spin $2600 flashes on the screen. It ended up being a 2 cent machine not a one cent machine. Needless to say I was happy then. Thats some of the best quick luck I had all year.

Lord of the Rings

US casino ....it was $ so the 400 credit was $8 brick & mortar casino

Hi BMWSTACK:

The Lord of the Rings game is unique because it is network connected. Players log into the machine (in the bricks and morter) casino. From home, they can log into the website and view high scores, all of the trophies they have earned, and play mini-games which award more miles. Upon successful completion of the mini-games, players can return to the casino an have more bonus rounds unlocked. There are 8 BONUS ROUNDS and 5 power spins available. The sequel, Two Towers will be out by mid-year (at the latest), and will at least 4 more bonus rounds.

Two Towers

Hi Folks:

Just wanted to provide an update -- the Lord of the Rings sequel is currently with the gaming lab ... my guidence of sometime before mid-year is still good.

In the meantime, WMS has moved forward with more network connected games, including ATTACK FROM MARS and THE PRICE IS RIGHT: THE ULTIMATE SHOW.

The designer of the game advised that the new bonus rounds will occassionally be randomly available to the player, even if they do not have enough miles to unlock them. Good news.

Played for five hours on Monday at Seminole casino in Fl. Played max bet of $2 and left with + $350.

Remember to create an account when you start playing.

The game starts out with a choice of two bonuses when you get three rings but increases to 8 choices as your mileage builds. I believe miles are randomly awarded. First additional choice awarded at ten miles, second at twenty five, etc.. The amount you can win from bonuses seems to increase as your choices increase.

There are five different catagories of random power spins awarded also. This is based on the number of coins per line you bet. one coin/line you receive one power spin per random award. Five coins/line five power spins per random award.

There are two additional random bonuses. One is a weird character (sorry didn't see the movies) who throws wilds onto the wheels; the other is arrows shot into the wheels that turn into wilds. These can pay really well if the wilds fall on a complete pay line.

When you're done sign out and it saves the mileage and extra bonus choices you have earned.

My opinion: so many levels and different bonus games that you really enjoy your play time.

Max bet is too low.

Oh yea, a woman playing ALICE IN WONDERLAND next to me hit for $9,950 on a $2 max bet.
On one of the bonuses, she got the first four out of five wheels as stacked wilds.

Lord of the Rings II showing up on Casino floors

Hi adedpoet1:

There are several Seminole casinos which reportedly have Lord of the Rings II. In addition, Mohegan Sun has it (and you can't think FOXWOODS is far off).

Folks can open Playerslife.com accounts before they go to play -- and earn 10 miles free (which will unlock one additional bonus round). There are plenty of other mini-games available ... along with a high score table for Lord of the Rings.

Glad to hear you have done well on it.
