Just seen this new article on the daily mail about one of their reporters doing an undercover investigation on bet365, doesn't seem particularly shocking to me or full of revelations.

I can't see bet365 just giving someone back £1,500 if they lost £15,000; and the following part of the article rather than disturb readers is likely to attract people to sign up!:

"Junior staff are given free rein to hand out £50 cash bonuses and free casino spins to any player who rings the Bet365 customer service line"

I don't believe its true either, chance would would be a fine thing, blinking codswallop.

I wonder if the Mail reporter wants to report on the misleading ads the mail used to run for Skybet amongst others. The Daily Fail didn't seem to mind gambling that much when it had whole pages dedicated to gambling adverts it was getting paid for. Now it's fair game as all the casinos/bookies pulled the ads as they weren't compliant.

bet365 were smart enough to use the interview as marketing and the undercover journalist should have signed up as a player and done some proper investigating and they would quickly realize that handing out $50 and freespins like its candy, was a complete lie.

funny I just went back on that article again and a big betfred advert came up under the video player, talk about pot calling the kettle black:

But you are totally not understanding how those adverts work. Companies like the Mail and others that use adchoices get to pick which type of ads they want. They might have been lazy in the choices they ticked to be allowed ads. Or they ticked every available option. Then if that is the case then it then comes down to the fact that the algorithms and code scan the page the ad is placed on for certain keywords. So for example. The fact the article had casino and loads of references to gambling and casinos. It then cross references that with all the available ads available in the ad pool and selects ads that use the term Casino as an example. So it is not down to the daily mail as such. It is pretty much out of their hands. However. The daily mail could have easily stopped this backlash from even happening by simply when they login to manage their ad account that they untick the gambling options. That way no ads relating to gambling will ever ever be shown on any of the mail websites.

That is how the systems work. I am a web dev, I too have used ad services. So I know exactly how they work. Just thought I would explain it for you :)

No, no that's fair enough, I kind of thought its a 3rd party providing these roving adds and from my pic above you can see the firm the mail use 'teads' ...but the daily mail are a big company they'll have their own dedicated marketing/advertising department, they'll be aware that gambling adds will appear on their site if they don't select the option for them not to, so taking into account the direction of the article it is hypocrisy, I don't think laziness comes into it.

They do it on other issues too, they like to try and take the moral high ground but if you look at a lot of the junk articles along the side its clear they're no moral crusader.

Slagging off gambling then allowing an adt on their page just sums up the media in the UK. Bunch of morons with no real voice but the politicians or fatcats they work for.

I’m familiar with the Daily Fail. Jesse Palmer hosts a daily show for this dumb tabloid in North America. I wouldn’t take any story from these nutcases seriously. The comments section is full of crazy people, too.

Did read that article too...Disgusting to be honest but hey the same happens in b&m's, they should signal problem gamblers but for example in The Netherlands there are many cases where Holland Casino would do everything to keep them playing instead of warning them that their gambling might have been too excessive or getting out of hand.
On the end of the day it is all about the cold hard money.

For the love of god stop going on the daily mail website without an adblocker, stop giving these fascists money.

Regarding the story though the daily mail have discovered NDB's that's definitely worth a front page.

The cases you refer to happend many years ago. But as for landbased casino's, online have their scandals and tricks as well. It's all about engagement (getting players playing and hold 'm playing). I stopped giving one fuck about online casino's, streamers, marketing affiliates and all that stuff. Online is slowly becoming more and more disgusting with various practices.

You can get in any time you like, but you can never leave.
