A question for MG, RTG, 3Dice or reps from casinos using their software

A simple question. Very simple in fact.

On the 'double up' gamble option on your video poker, is the gamble weighted towards the house or truly 50 / 50. If weighted, how? Does it depend on the game i.e. straight, 4 play, joker, deuces wild etc.

In think my question is a legitimate one that many of us would like answered. In the interests of fair play, I think my request is reasonable and shouldn't be a trade secret. We have a right to know what the odds of success or indeed failure are.

I was going to write to each provider separately but as they all read the bulletin boards and will almost certainly read posts with their name in it (too late to deny it!!!), then an answer here would be far more appropriate. Of course other software providers are welcome to chip in.....

It will be interesting to see who is pro-active enough to respond and will put my mind at rest at least that a series of picture house cards (14 in a row to specific in my case) is purely bad luck!

Look forward to hearing from you all.

14 in a row? Are you talking about VP?

If you're talking about 14 separate doubles, then I just think it's a case of bad luck. There's 16/52 cards that are T-K, and 20/52 if you count aces....so there's definitely a great chance that a face card is going to come up.

But, if they add extra "weight" to the odds of a face/ace coming up, then IMO it's not a fair game. It'll be interesting to hear from the casinos on this one..

Well...

In my case it was 14 picture cards (only 1 Jack) in a row on Joker Poker VP. My gamble paid off in....errmm....clears throat...none of them.

There are a whole host of questions that I would like to ask but to clarify, is the chance of the house dealing any given card totally random. If so, are the hidden cards the player gets to choose from totally random as well. If so, that could be argued as fair.....

I am sure they will all respond in their droves...I promise I am not being cynical. Promise.

Hi Julester,

For the 3Dice software, the VP double-up game is 50/50, true cards, and in effect a game without any house edge for the casino. (you have to first win on a game with a house-edge to be able to play it of course ..).

It is not weighted in any form shape or way, so for example the "d'oh!" situation where non of the player's options are higher than the dealer card occurs, (and of course also the obvious win where all of the player cards are higher than the dealer card to).

Even just losing 14 gambles in a row is definitely bad luck (magnitude 0.006%); so one would expect to see this occur on average once every 16k gambles. My advice would be to bring this unlucky streak to the attention of your manager as this is the type of bad luck that imho deserves some extra attention.

Kindest Regards,

Enzo
