A question for all

The young gentleman painting my house noticed me playing online and asked me some very interesting questions which I really had no answers to. He wanted to know if people really make a living doing this. He then said that it would seem easy to start with a reasonable stake and just limit onesself to winning a small, set amount each day, collecting at the end of the week and starting over, like a 9-5 job. He wondered if a casino would even allow this if they saw what was happening, taking them for, say $100 a day, cashing out and returning each and every day to do only that. I told him I had no idea but I would ask the masses, so let us know folks.

I dont know what would happen if you did this, but knowing these casinos I would not be suprised to come in and find a locked account one day. These guys are not in business to lose money. Try it and see how long you can run with it.

Will casino allow this? You bet all casinos in the world will welcome him with open arms.
Without counting cards or gaining any extra advantage, nobody in the world could beat the house consistantly. Be it online or land based casinos.
This young man really need to get some education and stop day dreaming.

ahh cmon'...we all can dream once in awhile, in todays culture of instant gratifaction, the various TV channels showing the world poker tour, world series of poker, celeberity poker games...ect....whats wrong with dreaming? I'm sure the young man was looking for nothing more than a conversation to break up his boring day, cut the guy some slack.

Absolutely he will probably earn more by delivering pizzas
(guaranteed income) than thinking about making a living on casinos.
Tell him that this is a only recreation. Otherwise he might, if he is that stupid
to put his trust on ill advice, lead his life in financial ruin and eventually a
life of crimes.

Am I overly dramatic?

I heard about this guy once who sold all of his belongings to play one spin of the roulette wheel...

:D

Okay, maybe I over-reacted.
I do know a few people who can make a living out of "gambling". These people are called "sharp players" or "advantage players".
Basically, most of these people have solid mathematic background. They build huge bankroll and wager only a small percentage of their money, trying to realize the small advantage over the long run. They gain the small advantage by using different tricks.
Is it fun or relaxing? Hardly. The variance is huge. Although they will eventually come out ahead, they can have net loose for weeks, or even months. They need to focus on what they are doing, while pretending they are just playing for fun. When they finally win, they can't spend them all because they need to prepare for the worst.
It might be fun to do it once awhile, but it's way too stressful for me.

Without bonuses, not possible, like freebie says.
If you can find a $100 bonus every day, very possible.
But then, since you have the advantage, and typically an enormous one at that, it's not really gambling is it?

There are endless people like myself that make a living playing online. I'm sure there are a few casino bonus whores who make a living playing just to the amount they need to cash out bonuses playing the lowest house edge.

I do it playing poker which I think is an entirely different way to earn a living online then blackjack or video poker. I have deals set up with places/affiliates that give me rake back plus I am playing players (most are idiots) instead of trying to beat a house edge. Unlike casinos poker rooms dont care if you win or not, they make their money in rake. Of course their ideal situation is for everyone to lose slowly to the rake to avoid withdraw fees but they need people to win to come back too.

I guess my answer is yes there are plenty of us playing online for a living but I think most are playing poker.

As to delivering pizza I did that, I ran a place, I even owned a stake at one point. You can make a bunch of cash in a pinch try it. It can be BS though, check my sucks.com site out to see.
