A Players' Union Could Change the Online Casino Industry

Imagine there was a casino community where players signed up to casinos through that community's referrals. If a casino refused to pay a player's legitimate winnings and the player reported it to the community, then after one or two similar complaints, the community could simply stop recommending that casino and move all of its players elsewhere.

The casino might think it's saving $50,000 by refusing a payout, but in reality it could lose far more in the long run. Losing an entire community of active players to competing casinos would likely cost much more than honoring a legitimate withdrawal. In my opinion, protecting a casino's reputation and maintaining player trust is worth far more than avoiding a single payout.

The reality is, a rogue operator is always going to be a rogue ... warnings or no warnings. These casinos only care about the short-term hustle, completely content to keep playing dirty.

But down the line, the warnings we post actually start biting them in the ass.

That’s when they come crawling back, fighting tooth and nail to get every negative review scrubbed. The sad part? They rarely give a damn about actually making things right or paying back what they owe.

As much as we hate governments I believe they are the only ones who can help us.
The government creates a Gambling id where your personal details are stored and this id is used as your login. You verify yourself once in every 5 years.
No more payment delays, verification and other tactics by casinos.
The only problem now remains is max bet during bonus or people playing bonus restricted games which can easily be stopped by the casino through a software.

A players union, indeed several have been proposed and also set up in the past. A search of the archives of the forum on Casinomeister brings up details.

It is I am afraid doomed to failure as it will not have enough support and thus legitimate weight, to make casinos change whatever bad practice employed that a union would want changing.

Imho i think that's the biggest challenge, honestly. A players' union only has value if it earns credibility, and that means filtering out weak or dishonest cases instead of blindly backing every complaint. If it just becomes another place where every losing player claims they were "scammed," casinos will ignore it. But if it only takes on well-documented cases with clear evidence, then losing access to that player base becomes a much more meaningful consequence.

the idea is good but you d need a board of experienced gamblers, people that worked in the industry and some lawyers that specialise in this field.

and then u d have to set the right fee for the union membership to grow it big enough that the casinos start to fear them.

This kind of stuff works for poker because sites charge rake and a great volume of that rake is from the mid/high stakes players.

That being said we who play a ton of volume are likely a vocal minority when talking about casino issues, most everyday users never beat a deposit wager or cashout winnings, once signed upto a site might be a customer for years unaware if service gets better/worse etc.
