I have heard vicious rumours that UK Betting, Total Bet & Ritz Club casinos are all about to dump Crypto & switch to Playtech.

Can anyone confirm if this is true?

I think would be is a total disaster & very bad news, what do you think?

(On the plus side I also hear a new Crypto is on the way - Playboy!)

Yup I've heard exactly the same thing. Personally in the case of the above 3 I don't think that's either a bad thing or a good thing as all are and should remain pretty reputable. The only possible downside is if they use Playtech's banking system which forces a reverse period...but if they follow ToteSport's lead, they may choose to bypass this with their own banking systems. I suspect UKbetting/Total bet will do this due to sportsbook betting - makes sense.

Another possible issue, is that Playtech's rep is tainted by a number of less than ethical casinos based offshore, no names mentioned, which may put a lot of players off playing there. You don't get that with Crypto as they police licencees well. But you would have thought that they must have factored that in. I'm suprised Ritz are going that route though I must say...maybe Playtech is better software for extracting money from punters?

Regards Playboy's change, this has been on the cards for a while. I could be wrong but I was told that Partnerlogic were involved here once Ladbrokes decided not to continue investing in the brand. If that's the case, it can only be a good thing for the casino IMO.

I am surprised not more casinos leave Crypto - well, 49er did too...

Crypto treats Inter as it's favorite and gives it many advantages over the others, who get second pickings.

While I like the software and all the cryptos are reputable, if I were an operator I would think twice before I picked a software where I had to play second fiddle.

You guys might like to check out Casinomeister news, which has covered these industry movements.

I always read but rarely remember. I'm a guy - I signed a form at birth giving up all rights to memory :D

I have got to agree with KasinoKing.
Indeed it would be a disaster (at least for me, since I play hardly any other software).
Really bad news...

I think Playtech is good software - in particular they seem to have got their free spins slots very well balanced to give VFM and still give out some high wins. If they were as good at controlling their operators, they'd be right up there IMO.

Yeah right! That 'Winner Screenshots' thread is just jam packed with Playtech Pickies... NOT!

I don't play Playtech much, and although I agree their software looks very 'slick', I have not noticed ANY slots that compete with the likes at MG & Crypto.
Anyone got a list and review of their 'free-spin' slots?

Check out "Desert Treasure" with 10 free spins at 3x and most entertaining. Or "A Night Out" with random spins and multiplyer up to 20 spins at 10x!! Both very good IMO. Hit the 5 scatters on Desert Treasure for £4.5k not that long ago at ToteSport.

PS. I was out having a smoke when that one hit so didn't capture it but did post the "History" shot to the WS thread a while back.

I dont play any of these but am not really that surprised. Playtech has always been the "cheapest" of the well known software. Many MGs and RTGs have gone playtech im sure for this reason.

Wonder how many cryptos will be left. Not many.

Intercasino is so big none of the departures have seemed to hurt Crypto yet. They have a ton of cash and revenues are up by about 50% this year for both casino & poker.

I see no reason why the most legitimate PlayTech outfits can't compete with the other big names in the online gaming industry. I've always felt that their games were top-notch, and the weak-link had been their slots (that were behind the times), but even in those regards they've made some great improvements. The two games mentioned by "Simmo!" plus "Dr. Lovemore" with the promise of making more/better slot games is only a good thing.

Those operations that are making the change will still provide great service, because it's mostly they themselves (not so much the software provider) that's made them what they are today. I look forward to seeing more great PlayTech operators in the future (and hopefully FAR fewer black sheep  ).

I heard ukbetting will change its no-download software from chartwell to playtech.

ukbetting casino has a contract with cryptologic until 2008.

Please read.

ukbetting/totalbet also uses obris(?) platform on some games.

===================================
CryptoLogic Renews Relationship with ukbetting plc
10. January 2006
London, UK- (PRESS RELEASE) - CryptoLogic Inc., a leading software developer to the global Internet gaming market, announced today the renewal of its relationship with ukbetting plc - Europe's largest online sports content network - through the extension of the agreement with CryptoLogic's wholly-owned subsidiary, WagerLogic Limited. ukbetting will continue to use WagerLogic's Internet poker solution exclusively through to 2009 for its betting brands, Link Removed ( Old/Invalid) and Link Removed ( Old/Invalid) . The contract also extends ukbetting's use of WagerLogic's casino software until 2008.

'CryptoLogic is growing its business with the world's blue-chip gaming brands - and ukbetting is one of the major European names on that list,' said Lewis Rose, CryptoLogic's President and CEO. 'CryptoLogic is proud that ukbetting has reaffirmed its confidence in our award-winning Internet gaming software, particularly benefiting from the liquidity of our poker network. By leveraging CryptoLogic's proven poker offering with ukbetting's extensive user base, we continue a winning combination to generate the highest returns.'

A customer since 2003, ukbetting introduced WagerLogic's state-of-the-art poker and casino software to its highly popular betting brands, Link Removed ( Old/Invalid) and Link Removed ( Old/Invalid) , and have experienced strong results, especially in the high-growth poker segment. Poker has accounted for the majority of ukbetting's revenue generated from CryptoLogic-developed software, which has been driven by the strong crossover from ukbetting's sports content users to poker. The contract renewal provides for WagerLogic's poker product to be integrated into ukbetting's single E-Cash wallet, to enhance the cross-marketing opportunities between ukbetting's 8.75 million monthly UK and European sports fans to its Internet poker services.

'I'm delighted that WagerLogic and ukbetting will continue this mutually rewarding relationship, which has contributed to a more than 100% year-over-year increase in our poker and casino revenue,' said Eric Semel, CEO of ukbetting plc. 'It is an extremely important move for ukbetting to have our poker product integrated into our back end systems, thereby allowing our customers to be able to use a single wallet solution rather than to have to register a new account to play poker.'

'The contract extension with ukbetting reinforces how major gaming operators continue to benefit from WagerLogic's poker liquidity and our decade of industry experience to deliver sophisticated innovations that enhance player loyalty and drive incremental revenue,' added A.J. Slivinski, WagerLogic's Managing Director

I am pleased to hear the news that some Crypto based reputables are
considering to switch to Playtech platform.

Looks like Crypto's very weird "activation code" system which I always
forget puts me far away from them...

Playtech is very good.

Maybe this isn't the correct thread to comment this but Betfair poker is leaving Cryptologic too...

Hi Simmo!

Can I ask you how often you hit the feature on A Night Out? I have NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER hit it, not even once, despite thousands of spins. I can never get those 2 symbols to line up on reels 1 and 5. Eventually I just gave up, although sometimes I'm a glutton for punishment and go back for more.

However, I'm not surprised that if someone is going to hit the feature, it would be you! You seem to have all the luck!

And speaking of smoke... now I need one!

On average about once every 100-150 spins. I had this game on autoplay for about 1000 spins at $0.20 per spin and I got the feature about 7-8 times.

I prefer "A Night Out" because of the higher paytable. I estimate the change for getting the feature is about the standard 1/150 which is the same as MG slots. But remeber it is very rare you get 20 free spins with *7 multiplier. Often you will just get 5 free spins *3, 10 free spins *2 or something like that.

And I still want to remind you that the average win from the feature is probably also in the standard 30-50 *bet size range, so going over 300 spins to chase it will not save you when you finally get it.

I just got the 20 spins x 7 multiplier yesterday and got 4 scatters during the free spins. The feature came out very frequently and the I even got 5 scatters during one during one regular spin. It's a pity I could only bet $0.2 per spin because I was playing from a free $5 from Club Dice. Anyway, it was fun.
