I have an upcoming B&M casino visit with a gal friend, (to see Stevie Nicks at Casino Rama) We will be making less than max bets, but I would like to only give the casino the house edge, so that we can drink and be charmining for a bit.

Since we are not gonna be making the max bet, can I have some suggestions as to the the percentage of the side bet of our ante bet.

Thank you in advance for your advice

Your winning % of the anti bet is approx 44%

This does not include the fluctuations when you fold, so it is lower.

The pair plus is your best bet but isnt as much fun, feast or famine

you can enter min bet on either box or both. It is considered 2 different games, so you can bet whatever you want in either box, within the limits.

The Wizard has the advice to raise on Q, 6, 4 or greater else fold. The pair+ bet has a lower house edge, however the correct strategy on playing (raising) and folding reduces the degree of risk near to that of the pair+ game.

Check the paytable for the pair+, as if it is not full pay, it is not such a good bet.

If this is merely a social visit, to get the most time at the table at least cost, then play higher on the poker game, and either forget about pair+, or only bet the minimum each hand.

If you have drunk too much, ONLY play pair+ - no chance of strategy errors:D

Before I went to Vegas I used Bodog's practice mode to learn how the game played. To be honest there were a few things I did not like about 3 card poker. For starters you are always in the worst position against the house. As any card player will tell you this is a huge advantage to the house in itself before we even talk about odds. The second reason I didn't like the game is that the house has a way out against the raise. If the house's hand is not queen or better they will fold. I found this to be frustrating because when I hit a monster hand the dealer seemed to have a weak hand. The bets make a big difference so not winning the raise bet kinda pissed me off.

IMO since you are always in bad position and the house can bail on you playing the pair+ is the only bet that reduces the house odds but you are still playing against the deck.

I personally don't like the game because it ruins the essence of poker.

I really like 3 card poker. I tend to use a 2 on the ante - 1 on the pairplus strategy. It doesn't always pull off, but works out more times than it doesn't.
That way if the dealer doesn't qualify you get one back, rather than just even money.

I hate the 3 card poker on the bodog site I can never seem to win at it, I think the software hates me. I do alright playing the 3 card poker on either playtech or microgaming sites, but not on the bodog site. I don't know why that is, it doesn't make any sense.

3 card poker can tend to end very quickly when you place a bet on both the pairplus and ante, and it is probably a good idea to stop using this strategy when you have lost 5 - 6 times in a row and just stick one on the ante or pairplus if your aim is just to make the game last longer.

The ante bet is more interesting, but the payouts aren't very good. And I get really frustrated if a straight flush or 3 of a kind comes up and I haven't placed a bet on the pairplus, as you miss out on the huge payout you get with such hands. Also flushes are even odds on the ante and worth 5 - 1 on the pairplus.

It is more fun to play the ante, but as I've already said bloody frustrating if a really good hand comes up, missing out on the extra payout cause you didn't put anything on the pairplus can make you feel like tearing your hair out.

with $1 on the pair plus a straight flush bags you $40 and $10 on the ante, totalling $50 which is bloody good for a $2 wager.

If you just bet on the ante it only bags you $10 (if the dealer qualifies) - otherwise it is about $5 if he don't qualify. So if you want bigger payouts you should place at least $1 on the pairplus each time. But betting on the pairplus can make your bankroll go down quicker if the cards are against you, and is best to rethink your strategy if you lose 5 -6 times in a row or you bankroll will disappear very quick.

Hope I haven't waffled too much. As you can guess 3 card poker is one of my faves.
