I was looking round a few new casinos last week when I came upon this little gem;

200% Registration Bonus!

Register and deposit as little as $25 or as much as $250 and we will give you 200% match bonus up to $500 spreadout through your first 5 deposits. On the first deposit you will receive a 100% match bonus and a 25% deposit bonus on your next four deposits!

The first sentence is totally contradicted by the second...!
First it says the bonus is 200%, but then that it's only 100% followed by some 25% bonuses....?

So I sent off an e-mail to support saying I was confused and could they clarify (I sort of expected the answer I got, but I was hoping they would not be that silly).
They replied:-
It is 200% in total on your first 5 deposits. First one is credited with 100% other 4 with 25%. There is no single 200% bonus on one deposit. We dont say we will give you 200% on one deposit.

"200% Registration Bonus!" is the name of the action.
Have a nice day.
To which I replied;
"Who did the maths on this one?
100% + 4 x 25% DOES NOT make 200%!!!!!!
Even a 10-year old would know that!"
I also asked them if they would change the wording on their website as it is basically a lie.
They replied declining this request and tried to explain it further:
How should explain this to you. This is 200% in total of 5 deposits (if you count the bonuses together) it is not 200% from the sum you will deposit. We write it everywhere. It is 100% + 25% + 25% + 25%. Can you suggest us any better name for this promotion?

Let try this:
Deposit $100, get a 100% bonus = $100 bonus.
Deposit $100, get a 25% bonus = $25 bonus.
Deposit $100, get a 25% bonus = $25 bonus.
Deposit $100, get a 25% bonus = $25 bonus.
Deposit $100, get a 25% bonus = $25 bonus.

Together in bonuses you received $200 and it is 200% of the first deposit but you had to make 5 deposits to achieve this. But we say this everywhere.

Together if you simply count 100% + 25% + 25% + 25% it is 200% and that is why we call the action 200% Registration Bonus and everywhere is explained how this works. We are clear to our players. How much actually you will have from this depends on how much you will deposit.
At this point I gave up.
Maybe I am wrong, but to me "Register and deposit as little as $25 or as much as $250 and we will give you 200% match bonus up to $500" can only be interpreted one way.

What do you think - Deliberate deception, or just incompetent?
:confused:

You see so many casino doing this,

i saw one as well, if you place a minimum bet of $10 we will give you a free bet for $150.

Read the fine print, it is a matched bonus, and $10 being the minimum and $150 maximum, it is a matched first bet, looking at the promo though you would think if you placed $10 on a bet you will get a free bet of $150..

Play on words bigtime, I really dont know why they do it though just give a nice bonus off the mark.. Some marketing departments really have there heads up there own you know whats.. I could do way better than what they got out there.

We really need to start a promo section here, make up some promos here and see which casino will take it on. Of course its gotta be fair for both parties but would be good if we could put some feedback into it.

They lied. You actually get 100% on your first deposit and 288% of your first deposit on your next 4 deposits#

#To maximise your bonus, your first deposit must be $40 and your next 4 deposits must be $460. You will get total bonuses worth $500.

Actually, for some bizarre reason the max deposit is $250, so to get $500 "free" you'd have to deposit $250 5 times; once for 100% ($250) and 4 times for 25% ($62.50)
Total deposits = $1,250
Total bonus = $500
Bonus percentage = 40% = one FIFTH of what they try to make it sound like... :eek2:

Save your breath KK. They know where they have got it wrong. However, they are probably not as rogue as Virtual who really give you a 1000% bonus. Trouble is you never get to see your money again.

Connect2casino were the masters of this trick, I remember 30000% bonuses which consisted of 30 separate 999% coupons (sticky, with WR=30x(D+B)).

200%

This is worst IMO, very deceptive. Not really a play on words, a flat out lie.

KK, they know what they are doing. It could have just read up to $200.00 match, then broke it down. Why even trick people, its just going to make them play at other places with true match bonuses.

This is what you should mail them. Doubt you would get a serious response though

It may have started as incompetent. That's pretty incompetent, I know they teach those math skills before high school.

But their error has been pointed out to them, and still they persist with the same wording. I don't think this incompetent, I think it is dishonest and deliberately trying to mislead players.

The wanted wording to attract players, and are persisting in using an outright false statement to do so.

I'll offer an alternative: Get up to $500 in match play.

Sounds so much better than "PLAY AT A CASINO THAT CAN'T DO GRADE 5 MATH".:rolleyes:

It is not incompetence it is clever marketing - from the Casinos perspective anyway.
There is another lie though as well as the ones pointed out.
.

If that were true you could deposit $25 total over 5 deposits and receive $50 total bonus.
Obviously you need to deposit more than $25 total over 5 deposits as there are minimum deposits requirements on each deposit.

It's marketing math. Quite a few casinos do this. Another good example is onlinecasino.com . Their home page states "300% Bonus" in giant font. They mean a 100% bonus on the first 3 deposits -- 100% x3 = 300%.

I suck at all math especially withdrawal algebra and marketing geometry:oops::oops:

Just a little update;
I've been in contact with this casino appealing for them to change this wording from lies to the truth - so far they refuse to budge. :(

But today it just got worse when the casino sent me an automatic e-mail trying to encourage me to deposit;
Make an initial deposit now and we will give you a 200% bonus in total on your first 5 deposits! Start playing with more money than you deposited! This means more fun for you, and a better chance to win our progressive jackpot of over...
This is even worse than what it says on their website!
At least there they explain how they arrived at this mythical 200%... :eek2:

Hmmm...

Let's think about this...

For the sake of argument, let's say I'm not necessarily the brightest of minds :)rolleyes:) and take them up on it...

"Oh wow... that sounds so good - I just have to try them out!!!"

I deposit the max to get the most out of the so-called 1st deposit match... $500... WOW!! I have a ton to play with!!

All of a sudden, I hear the sound of a vacuum cleaner and before you know it, my $500 has been sucked out of my account before you can say "I've just GOT to deposit again!"

One deposit, $250 gone in who knows how long (not long, I'm guessing), one trip to Control Panel, a couple clicks to uninstall it.. sounds a lot better than this...

"Oh Man... Maybe the next deposit will be so much better! That way I can go up to 125% in free money!"
"Oh Man... Maybe the next deposit will be so much better! That way I can go up to 150% in free money!"
"Oh Man... Maybe the next deposit will be so much better! That way I can go up to 175% in free money!"
"Oh Man... Maybe the next deposit will be so much better! That way I can go up to 200% in free money!"

Ugh...

If casinos are going to design a promo such as this one, they shouldn't for one second think that the majority of the people who visit their sites are ignorant, stupid, or just plain dumb... because whoever designed the wording for that "promo" is all 3 of those.

My 3 cents :D

Speaking of "free money", that's another term that's abused by tons of casino promotions.

"free money" is a no deposit chip, not a % match bonus with strings attached.
