Will televised bingo become legal in California?
The agreement met yesterday allows for expansion of conventional bingo but will do away with away with the electronic version of the game in California.
Senate bill 1396 had lawmakers hurrying to finalize the bill by adding ammendments to it before the close of the session at the end of August.
The states indian tribes contribute hundreds of millions of dollars annually from their exclusive rights to offer slots and various other gaming devices and they state that the electronic bingo devices are in violation of their gaming agreement with California.
If the bill is passed, it means that "online bingo" will become legal in California.
The bill is supported by many charities and non profit organizations, but the smaller group that depends on
bingo machines for income are, of course, against the bills passing.
