Math wise you are correct, but for some reason a straight flush doesn't have the kudos of a 'Royal' flush. It does at pure poker sites but obviously like a straight the higher card decides it so royal is considered the ultimate hand, which you always see reflected in video poker games.

There are some forms of poker where you would be better off hitting a A-5 straight flush. Notably hi lo games

Same reason that 4 8's are better then 4 7's or a pair ok kings is better then a pair of fives.. All same odds, but games need rules.
