In the US where I live in Coney Island Brooklyn. There is this club called the Polar Bear club alot of people this time of the year go swimming in very cold water. Its suppose to be good for your heart and give you stamina.

I dunno really - it's something my ex-wife dragged me into back in 1985 - and I've done it every Christmas day since then - if I'm in the country. (Usually alternate years we spend Xmas in the, thankfully land-locked
Czech Republic).BTW, my ex is the person swimming behind me!
