When do we think the age of UK players playing on Crypto sites will end?

Seems to be a fairly normal thing for UK players nowadays with so many available and being promoted widely by UK based streamers. Surely we will reach a point in time where the FCA will be asked to take a stronger approach to outlaw this and deposits made to unknown wallets. The UKGC seem focused on issues under their own licence when by far the biggest growth sector for gambling in the UK are these crypto sites. Christ it's advertised everywhere in football and other sports - something I still can't get my head around as the intent is clear - setup pointless UK site but promote offshore site with everything available. Anyway, interested on people's thoughts on where this is headed and what you think might happen.

In my own opinion, the playing at exclusively crypto only casinos, players are basically playing russian roulette - as in the main the likelihood is that they will choose a shoddy clip joint.

Serious research into any casino you choose to play at has to be done beforehand. Otherwise you are potentially throwing any money you deposit down the drain.

Not saying all of them are dodgy, but I'd wager the vast majority are.

TBH the UKGC mostly brought it on themselves, what did they think was going to happen when they ban things that didn’t really need to be banned, auto play as a prime example.

Despite their claims autoplay was a great tool to keep track of how many spins and potential loss you could have in any session, the player set the amounts FFS.

Anyone that can afford more than £5 spins can no longer play them, another pointless ban as deposit and loss limits are more effective and would not penalise every player in a blanket way. Bonus buys would also have been protected from excessive use due to the same loss / deposit limits.

Casinos being told to question the amount of time being playing at a site as part of RG monitoring after they brought in a rule to slow spins down, banned a quick way to get a bonus, again really what did they expect? While we talking about time so what if some of my sessions go on into late night / early morning, ever heard of shift workers UKGC? Clearly not? Or what about people with teenagers up till 10, before they can settle down for some “me” time. Playing till 3am? Ever heard of a day off? So why can’t I play till 3am?

I doubt anyone at UKGC has ever been a gambler or worked in the industry because nearly every new rule that they think of has just as many negative effects on the behaviour they trying to address.

History has taught us that prohibition nearly always drives it underground and in this case it’s crypto sites, what a shock!…… NOT.

Unless the FCA ban all decentralised wallets (how..?) then there's no way to prevent players depositing to better options outside of the UK.

I believe there was a half hearted attempt to go after the providers recently, and Evolution got into a bit of hot water with the UKGC because players were able to play their games in GBP on offshore sites.

Personally don't have an issue playing in USD, lol.

I think it’s even a bit silly to set the currency to GBP on a casino that you’re not allowed to play from the UK. It just telegraphs that you are most likely from a restricted region and could cause hassles down the track. Sure, most of these places aren’t available to the US either, but playing in USD isn’t anywhere near as much of a sign of your location.

Pro tip: spinning $1 spins gives you more playtime than spinning £1 spins…😂

Worth mentioning that all Evolution games (inc NetEnt, NoLimit, Big Time Gaming slots) can no longer be played in GBP at any crypto casino. This also applies to other restricted countries like Australia (AUD) and Canada (CAD). To play you must change currency to USD.

Since Evolution were investigated by the UKGC, they have rolled out many new policies like this to avoid fines and the like.
