I guess I am traditional- love hearing choral works and choirs (at any time) but a live full symphony and choir performance of Handels messiah is a standard christmas treat for me. (Mozarts reqium is my Easter treat)

My other favorite- a good church choir in a church with great acoustics (read old stone high celings) singing gloria hosanna in excelsus.

Not religous but some of the most beautiful and stirring music for the human voice seems to have been writtten for religion.

I guess I'm a traditionalist too - at this time of the year I really enjoy choral versions of older classics like:

The First Noel,
God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen,
Hark the Herald Angels Sing,

In Dulci Jubilo,
Joy to the World,
Once in Royal David's City,
The Twelve Days of Christmas,
We Three Kings of Orient Are and
While Shepherds Watch their Flocks by Night (irreverently sung in school as "while shepherds wash their socks each night"<grin>.

I also get a big kick out of watching the nursery school presentations of the old nativity songs - those kids' faces just light up when they put on their fancy dress and sing their hearts out.

We always try to get together as a family for a Christmas feast, and presents are handed out around the Christmas tree whilst the carols play in the background. It's a magic time of the year.
