Well, everyone has their own key factor. Some trust stats, others go with instinct. The truth is, one small detail can flip the whole outcome (of course, luck is a key factor even for teams). Each person has a betting logic. For example, I always check the outcomes of the last five matches for a team (this is the first thing to check before exploring other stats).
What do you always check before placing your bet? If there were only one single detail to consider, which one would it be?

I make sure I never ever back my own team

I look at the odds. If there's no value i won't back them. Anything too shortly priced is avoided.

I purely look at the overround if you compare all the best prices. If it's higher than 105% I won't bet. I'm not going to stack my sports gut against professional traders, just going to find the minimum bookies edge based on their own and their competitor's available odds.

I prefer to stick to betbuilders on single games as apposed to accumulaters. I also prefer to stick to evens choices or odds on choices of between 4 to 6 options which can provide a good return if they all come good. Never specific results be it first goalscorer or exact score.
