Question Weird hacked experience

On the subject of a hacker getting funds out, though it doesn't appear to have happened in this case, if the casino has a poker site that you can transfer funds to then this is the way they remove them, sit at a table with a friend and just dump the chips.

They can do this obviously and try to keep most of the chips but will normally get spotted, or they can do it well and be happy just clearing about 10%

To the OP: Was your Red Flush account 'merged' from another casino?

Or perhaps someone else's account with similar info was merged? The reason I say this is: Ages ago, when some little poker networks were merging with others, (during that time, I think every Tom, Dick and Harry had their own little poker room) hubby had some accounts merged over (using existing acct#/user and password). A few weeks later he received an email saying 'here's your password you requested'. He tried logging on to the poker room with his known ID & password. Didn't work. Then, he went into the poker room with his login ID and the password they'd sent. It was someone else's account! We could see balances, and his rakeback or whatever it is you earn when you play for the house, everything! It would have been ridiculously easy to cash out that poor player's money. We didn't touch it of course. Scared the bejesus out of us.

Hubby contacted the poker room repeatedly and they never seemed to grasp the problem. (The problem, of course, was that CS was never actually reading the emails.) They just kept sending the login info that sent us to this other poor player's account. Eventually Hubby asked them to close the account related to HIS email account. We tore up the log in info and never checked to see if it was corrected. I have no idea if that player was ever able to access his account or not. We had no way of knowing how to contact him.

A few pointers towards security software`s and their 3 key adjectives, it is imho risky to use one security suite that covers all 3 aspects as it gives hackers and the like a far easier task of compromising your PC, as they only have one security programme to breach (Norton is a great example here and personally I wouldn`t touch it with a bargepole).

Okay the 3 aspects and the respective programmes I use to combat them............

Hijacking/intrusions/compromising your PC, these are the basic elements that a Firewall takes care of, and for this task I use PC Tools Firewall Plus, this programme can be as complex as you want it to be, or as simple, but tweaking certain default elements will tune it to everyone`s specific needs.

Viruses/trojan`s/worms and the like - Preventing these are the main tasks of your virus scanner, many people use AVG here, this programme is very good, but it is also way over the top when doing it`s job and thus causing problems that you will have no idea of that it is your virus scanner causing that new programme/programme update etc, not to work properly, no other virus scanner out there gives more false positives than AVG, so for this task I choose Avast, as good as AVG without the 1001 problems that AVG generates via it`s over enthusiasm to keep your PC clean.

Spyware/Adware/Maleware - Those annoying cookies and the like that herald mostly from market research data agencies that constantly send relative data back to them, these will intrude and locate your email addresses and bombard you with emails for places that you have interests in, for eg - all of us here would have visiting gambling related sites and casinos as a huge part of our online time spent at. For this chore I use the same software I have used for years - Spybot Search and Destroy and Malewarebytes which has a built in scanner for when downloading in general.

Security in general - Please remember this - It matters not how security conscious you are, but, those close around you, scenario - You have all your security software running and configured correctly, your best friend `Bob the porn site junkie` does not and has just finished his marathon porn downloads session at `Free virus with every porn download `R` Us` and picked up some very nasty backdoor Trojans (pun intended :p), one of these is a particularly nasty worm that heads straight for your email and friends list, replicates itself and mails itself to every person on the friends list.

You duly receive an email from your friend Bob headlined (for the guys) Check this picture out of my new GF and her twin sister doing stuff that is illegal in over 100 countries, and for the girls - Check my new BF out he is hung like Shergar, for the Necrophiliacs - Check this hot dead bitch/stud muffin out, best leave it there lol, but hopefully you catch my drift, so, you receive an email from what you think is a close friend with an attachment attached to it, what do you do next?.

Which brings me to my conclusion and my perception of an age old adage `Life isn`t what you make it, but, what other people make it`, safe surfing all ;).

Roy.
