Microsoft is putting Internet Explorer out to pasture
The much-maligned web browser will soon conclude its 20-year reign of 'error'

If they just rebranded the same browser it would automatically become more popular. I think a lot of the hate is just associated with the name "Internet Explorer" and it's history.

Anyway, I always wondered who was behind this image that was placed in a hospital waiting room.

This is aimed at the hospital employees. Our million $$$$ healthcare applications are driven to run on IE and nothing else. They are complex with active x controls and all kinds of IE driven work flow. So inevitable someone will download another browser in their office so they can get on face book and now their work applications that require IE 6 don't work any more. I have to deal with this constantly. At least we are up to IE 8 now...WhoooHoooo. Windows 10 with it's new browser is going to be interesting for us.

It used to be you'd create 'guest accts' for others in your home like friends, family and roommates who might share your computer. These days, I just assign them their own browsers. Example, my mother isn't the most (computer) savvy, so I load and save her passwords and programmes, bookmarks etc onto a separate browser she can use at hand when she visits.

Me: No, don't touch that one.
Mom: Which one's mine?
Me: Opera
Mom: Is that the blue and orange one?
Me: No, don't touch that one, that's FireFox. Yours is the big red circle.
Mom: Oh right.

OMG I am so stealing the meme at the top of this thread, with your permission! :)

My computer frustrations in a nutshell, how many minutes, hours, weeks wasted on IE issues in the past decade?

Funny about them skipping Windows 9 altogether, and rebranding basically for 10 with a brand new browser experience. It's bound to be HUGE, with the not oft seen risks and steps they are taking with this rebrand.

It isn't my meme. It was bouncing around Facebook, so help yourself.
