Just had an email this morning from bwin with the following information:

It will be the beginning of a new era! Spain will officially regulate its online gaming market and we expect to be at the front of the queue to be granted a license. Consequently, this gives us the chance to offer an optimised sports betting line-up focusing on national highlights: bwin.com becomes bwin.es!

On 05.06.2012, the regulated Spanish market is planned to open and residents in Spain will have the unique opportunity to experience the complete bwin.es product line-up! Having met all legal requirements, we expect to be granted our license by the The Gaming General Directorate on 01.06.2012, in advance of the market opening.

Since the regulations were announced, Spanish players lost out on Microgaming and most NetEnt products - most annoying for me personally as I loved NordicBet (account was closed as per the regulations) and really enjoyed playing MG.

I'm sincerely hoping that this means that operators now have licenses in place (I'm looking at YOU, 32 Red :p) and we'll start seeing casinos reopening in Spain again!

Heh,I was having a look at the Microgaming press releases for new games and noticed they have information about spanish licences here:

Yeah, I've had quite a few casinos email me saying that they are reopening in Spain on the 5th June, which is nice, but I've yet to recieve one from 32Red or NordicBet (HINT HINT GUYS) :p

Awesome news that MG have recieved their license!

A lot of companies will need to pay back taxes to get a license in Spain, if the Spanish business isn't worth it then it just won't happen.

Don't forget that for a lot of the Gibraltar companies the directors live in Spain so can't afford to not go fully legal if they want in.

Does anyone know if slots are going to be part of the new legal system. I have heard conflicting points that slots are not included in the proposed change in law in Spain.
