Hi all,

If a casino's T's and C's say:

3.8 By registering, you also verify you do NOT already have a Smart Live Casino account, as you may only hold one account. Duplicate registrations are NOT permitted. In the event that we have reason to suspect that a person has made duplicate registrations, all registrations by that person will be cancelled, and all bonuses and winnings on the duplicate account will be voided.

and

2.1.1 ... In any instance where an ineligible player makes a bet we will void all bets, refund all deposits and withhold any winnings for that player.

what happens if a person accidentally creates a duplicate account and plays at the casino?

Is it a case of if the player wins then their bets are voided and their deposits returned but if they lose then nothing happens?

Thanks for any help!

Regards, Steve.

IMO it depends on when they spot it. Sometimes a casino will spot the additional account(s) quite quickly and shut them all down.

If they don't notice the duplicate until they are processing a withdrawal request for you, then you will likely be up a certain creek missing a certain paddle.... By the same token, if they're not checking along the way then you could technically lose indefinately before anyone realises. This is why it's sooo important to keep track of the sites you join and when applicable any groups they may belong to.

Best thing to do... if you are ever even the slightest bit unsure mail the casino in question and ask. If you only have one account then great, carry on. If you dont asking might at least make them more willing to believe it was an accident.

A lot of casinos have very similar names. I'm sure I'm not the only player in early days to have found a forum that offered many free ND bonuses, and played a lot of them, all without success.

After joining CM, I did start asking if I was unsure. I know that one time, I asked at a casino that was a different name, but had acquired a by then defunct casino, with an entirely different name. I had an account with the defunct casino, but the casino I was joining bore no similarity in name, and I certainly wouldn't have known had I not asked.

Even before CM, I was reading T&C's, I'm just that kind of gal.

It would be simple for casinos to automatically run a check for same name and same DOB, and question duplicates. People change addresses and email addresses, but for most folks your name stays the same, and for all folks your DOB does.

It's been a while since I did any programming, but I'm pretty sure I could write that code in under 15 lines.

I agree with the previous posts. It's better to ask the Casino just in case. I try to keep track of where I have already registered but sometimes is hard.

Why do you ask?

I see some of your earlier numerous issues with online casinos involved having accounts closed for fraud reasons.

I really hope you are not abusing the goodwill of the membership by misrepresenting your situation.

Sorry, just seems a very odd question to ask, and one that would surely only be considered if one found oneself in that situation.

Apologies if I am completely wrong.

I think that in the vast majority of cases (if not all), the casino would not return any deposits if you lose.
If a casino did return deposits for "cheats", then it would be a huge carrot to dangle in front of them. It would be like they were saying "Come and have a go at cheating in our casino - if you get away with it and win you can cash-out your winnings. But if you fail and lose, just own up & we'll give you your money back!"
Never going to happen IMO.

Hi all,

As my original account had a deposit limit set on it - the casino has offered to refund a percentage of my deposits I made into my accidentally created duplicate account. They have said that the fault lies with both of us - me for creating the duplicate and them for allowing it and not closing the account earlier. Is it just a case now of agreeing with the casino the amount of deposits to be returned?

Thanks, Steve.

Personally, I think you are fortunate the casino is willing to give you ANYTHING back. If in doubt ask questions, unless you have something to hide. Take what they are giving you and move on, lesson learned.
