when i know im just going to be away from my PC for only a few hours i choose to hit the sleep button on my keyboard on my PC to shut it down, i find it starts up quicker this way
It shuts down ok but maybe after about 20 minutes,or sometimes an hour or more it starts up again all by itself.
i know i dont have any viruses etc so i was wondering if anybody has a clue to why this is happening,

Probably down to a scheduled task in task manager. I see this with mine, and often it happens when a routine check for updates is made.

It is possible to turn off task manager, and deal with updates manually.

Normal startup will load everything, but it is possible to configure a selective startup, and only have those processes you want all the time starting with Windows. The others you can start manually whenever you find you need them. Selective startup also helps with RAM overload, and running speed.

Thats a relief i was worried someone was hacking into my pc the way it seemed to have a mind of its own or like someone else was controling it,
I had turned off alot of unwanted startup programmes but i suspect it could be my norton antivirus as that seems to update the most,

Thanks VWM
