not where i want to be
or possibly philadelphia, but i'd rather go to the other 2. since its a little last minute, i just wanted to check with you guys to see if anyone has an affiliate or some hook up who may be able to even just get weekend reservations at a casino in any of those cities. i always stay at the gold strike in tunica, but haven't been in a while and only get weekday offers, same for philadelphia. i haven't been to biloxi since katrina, so i only get a few things from IP, but nothing special. any help would be appreciated. thanks :)

I've got some sweet offers for next month in the mail today, very tempting for a few nights in Tunica. If you call your host at MGM/Gold Strike they can probably work something out with you.

i will definitely let you know if we decide to head that way. when i checked the online reservations earlier in the week, there were no vacancies anywhere saturday night, but i know they set plenty aside also. unfortunately, i haven't played enough at the gold strike to have a host. my best friend did have a contact who could get us comped rooms in biloxi or tunica w/very little or no notice, but for some reason he can only now help with vegas rooms..........i don't think i can talk my husband into vegas this weekend......:)

You really don't have to be a high roller and have an assigned host to talk to one, just call reservations and ask for VIP services or to speak to a casino host. They don't like to transfer you when you call the 877 number so use the direct dial number. (662) 357-1111 just ask for a casino host. What I always say is could you check my play and see if you can help me out with a saturday night. That way it doesn't sound like you're asking for a freebie, you're asking for a freebie or a casino rate.

Pulled this from online fyi and earlier today I gave Laurie my contact at THE SHOE. No idea if she will do you any good as 2 of 3 Harrah's sold out (and yes they hold some rooms back) but hopefully!...........Brianzz, let me know if you are going to be in Tunny on the w-e of the 7th or 14th in March (I could be there both, lol). Got about $5K including the deal below and all these slot vouchers that they let me redeem for moolah. The 7 Star offers below have to be used on the 7th or 14th of March but still always an impulse decision for moi. I do hang out in the ultra lounge bar near the lobby at GS though so maybe we can meet up for a shot or 2, or 10!

thanks. i thought you meant my personal vip host, which i don't have. i will call like you suggested. it looks like we all may use similar lines for stuff like this.........

btw, gretchen wilson is at the gold strike friday night, so that does us no favors with the rooms

..........gold strike is one of the few places that has any rooms left and pretty pricey as g.wilson will be there... im waiting on the fitz to see what they can do but it looks like ill be staying at one of the non casino inns for 79.00 fri and 129.00 sat. if i cant find anything else, let me know mush if you and your hubby will be there and ill pm you my cell # and we can maybe all do dinner. garry is still sick with the flu bug when i talked to him earlier today so he wont be able to go but you never know with him, get better soon garry (nashvegas)................laurie

Nash I'll let you know.. I've almost let myself be talked into the last part of April by these people I call friends.

Laurie I have some contacts at the non-casino places I'll see if I can get you a better deal.

Best I could work was 85 Fri and 120 Sat at the Quality Inn on casino strip resorts Blvd, must be expecting a busy weekend.

have you guys ever stayed at the grand in tunica? they still have rooms, but i've never stayed there. of course, my husband is out of town working and i guess i'm supposed to just have this whole trip planned and ready when he gets home this afternoon.......................apparently, he's working in the middle of nowhere w/no resources of his own, even though his blackberry sure seems to work just fine......

sorry for that little bit of venting that i needed to do.......whew, i feel a lot better now......

Hi Mush, I have never stayed at the Grand as I have always prefered The Horseshoe and the nice treatment I get there. In November, when Laurie and hubby Jim joined me in Tunny for a w-e, Laurie et ux did stay at the Grand and Laurie said they comped the rooms when she mentioned she had come to Tunica to support me in a BJ tourney at the Shoe. Laurie never mentioned anything negative to me about their stay at the Grand so I assume it was grand,lol!.......Also the local Nashville Harrah's junkets are all to the Grand so I believe it is considered enjoyable for a w-e trip but since I am impulsive and have stayed in Tunny as long as 21 days (fine for Vegas but I should have been commited for a 21 day stay in Tunny), I prefer The Shoe as I usually get the same exact apartment style suite on my crazy adventures.....Hope it all works out for both you and Laurie. Sorry, I could not help more and still not even sure if my contact ever called Laurie back!

Ya'll are making me so sick!! Wish I was going with. I've stayed at the Grand twice, once at the casino and once at, I believe, the Grand Veranda. Both excellent. The hotel at the casino is a little older, of course, than the Veranda and the Veranda is very nice. Shuttle service was great as well as hotel service. For the life of me, I can't see staying 21 day at Tunica but 2-3isn't bad.

Hope you all have a great time and lots of luck.

well i wont be going after all, i guess jim and i will make a day trip to metropolis or aztar sat or sunday, and try to go at the end of the month as i have been told my rooms will be comped at the fitz:), there are so many peeps in tunica now that we have decided to wait. i hope anyone going this weekend has a great time.......................laurie

we actually DID end up going on saturday. i'm sorry you guys didn't get to go. we ended up staying at sam's town b/c by the time we finally decided to go, there were only rooms there and at the grand. i was actually online making reservations with the grand when i came to my senses and decided the $300+ we would save for 2 nights by staying at sam's town meant.........sam's town here we come!!!!!

i've never even been inside sam's town in tunica before this weekend, so i wasn't really sure what to expect, but when i am going to a casino i would choose a larger bankroll over 4 star lodging any day. don't get me wrong, i would prefer to have both, but when i know i'm going to be in the room a few hours of those 2 days anyway and i am asleep pretty much all of those hours i can live w/o turndown service. :)

i'm exhausted right now, so i'm not going to recap our whole trip tonight, but i plan to share the highlights b/c we had such a roller-coaster ride..........all ended well, so its a good story. for a tease................we checked in, headed to the room and i was back down in the casino w/in about 15 min.............i had $40 in my pocket, so i decided to sit down to play before i went to the atm, with hopes of not having to go at all!!! since i had never been before, i wanted to walk around and see everything, but i wanted a drink more, so i sat down at a machine right in the main walkway to enter the casino hoping to get a drink quickly and keep walking. the machine i sat down at was called wild times (i think, but i had never played it before). it had 3 reels with a bonus feature that gave you a chance of winning 2x-25x your bet. anyway, i was not expecting to win anything on my first machine and i was pre-occupied with finding a waitress, so i'm sure everyone can understand my surprise when on my 2nd spin i hit the bonus feature giving me a $350 win on a $.75 bet!!!!!!! to be continued.....

the only thing I really hate about Sams Town is most of the rooms there are in Eastern Arkansas, really long walk from the casino

When we stayed at Sam's in Dec. I was pleasantly surprised to find we had one of the 'new' comfy beds. Up until that time they'd always had those ol' hard hotel beds that hurt come morning. I love Sam's. Never have to pay for room or food -- and now they have comfy beds -- that's all I need. :D Of course it wouldn't hurt if I could hit a RF next trip....

Brianzz... not all rooms at Sam's are on the outer edge of the galaxy. ;)
