POKERSTARS TO LAUNCH SPORTS BETTING AND TABLE GAMES GLOBALLY

Blackjack and roulette available in coming weeks, additional games in 2015 to support poker offering
ONCHAN, Isle of Man – November 21, 2014 – PokerStars, the world’s largest poker brand, announced today that it will launch sports betting and casino table games globally on PokerStars.com.
The first offerings – blackjack and roulette – will roll out on a market-by-market basis beginning this month with completion anticipated by the end of 2014 reaching nearly half PokerStars’ current player base. PokerStars will add sports betting and other popular casino games in 2015. It also plans to launch a full-featured casino on mobile and web in 2015.
etc etc

Oh that's great. I remember back in the day at party poker I would win money at poker and then go blow it on black jack.

PS always told that they just poker site. Their slogan(is this right english word?) ' we are poker '. Then Amaya buy PS. And now we see casino games...Clearly shows how Poker losses to Casino markets.

Amaya have huge debts after buying Stars, they're doing everything in their power to drain as much money from the site as possible including introducing spin n gos, casino games, sportsbook etc as well as ripping of affiliates and increasing rake.
Will be interesting to see how they're holding up in a year or so.

The problem is that they don't have a competitor. They basically have a monopoly and can do whatever they want.

Yep, sites like party and 888 have had so many chances to become the industry leaders, but they refuse to improve on their awful software and are complacent just focusing on casino/betting :(

Is bettng not at the top ?

Correct me if I am wrong but I see many sites quarterly results advertising that sport book was increasing their bank rolls as with the New UK legislation many sites took a big hit in everything else.

PS might be a global poker leader but with the casino/sport niche I think they will take the downhill pretty fast, I bet that companies like 888, William Hill and etc won't let Pokerstars to gain much profit in this + not to mention that Pokerstars ripping their affiliates was not the smartest move ever. Anyway do you know if Pokerstars will go for the online bingo as well?

The thing with companies like william hill is they are heavily restrained by being part of a big network of sites, they need to work in tandem to grow and take on new traffic, but they also focus heavily on casino and sportsbook so I doubt the ipoker network will ever reach pokerstars size.
There is simply no main competitor for pokerstars at the moment, all other sites are content with their shoddy software and raking in the cash with their other verticals and pokerstars isn't going anyway, not for a while at least.

Keep an eye on Amaya

As far as I know Amaya/Crypto have not announced anything but they did have bingo once upon a time as part of their platform.

I guess PS is using a custom made platform? Anyone here from Spain that tried it and have any comments on it? I guess it will be hard for affiliates to make money from PS since they already signed up so many poker players..

The Spanish closure was reportedly due to "technical reasons" associated with regulatory compliance around the provision to players of hand histories, and Pokerstars has since assured the market that it will return in "a few weeks" once it has sorted the problem out. Despite what some industry pundits have been saying, I doubt that this company would risk being publicly caught out in a lie on this.

Edited to add that Pokerstars has not, to my knowledge, revealed what platform it will use for its sports betting ambitions, which will apparently be launched some time this year.
