The PokerNations.com social network is on schedule to launch within one month to the public.

In addition, members who work or operate companies within the gambling industry will be welcome to free Official Profiles to promote their brands on our site.

We'll bring industry members onboard within a few weeks, so you can get setup before we open to the general public.

We'll also have a select group of poker enthusiasts on the site early to generate content (blogs, forum posts, photo uploads, etc) so when we open to the general public they don't find a blank slate.

To ensure your company or organization is represented at www.PokerNations.com please email marketing@pokernations.com soon!

PokerNations Account Creation

Our site is now open at www.pokernations.com and you may signup. Be aware that we are still considered under construction. This means you may encounter bugs and/or unfinished features; the work is ongoing. We have brought on admins and moderators, as well as a small group of poker enthusiasts to get started, but our public launch isn't until the end of August. You are welcome to get started now, but we ask that you do not use our sites built-in invite feature until the end of the month. We are anticipating a total membership within our first full-year of operation to reach between 30-50 thousand members.

Choosing Your Account Type

PokerNations features over 25 profile categories. Unlike Myspace, you won't find a Casino with an age and sex, for example. Depending on your needs, you may qualify to utilize multiple accounts on our network. For example, an online gaming site can have a separate profile for their Casino, Poker, Sportsbook and Bingo operations. A land-based Casino could have separate profiles for their Casino, Poker Room, Dining Establishments, Entertainment Venues and Shopping options.

If you are a member of the industry (i.e. employee, company owner) and not a professional poker player, we have an Industry Member category that you can have for your personal use. This way you have a personal account in addition to a company account to represent your brand. Many companies have pros or celebrities that promote them (i.e. online gaming sites, poker coaching companies, etc). In those instances, the company has its own profile, but then each pro or celebrity can also have one as well, giving you greater exposure across our network. If you are unsure of what account type you should select, please email me and I will assist.

Official Profile Badging

To protect your brand/name, we offer Official Profile badges for no charge. These let our members know that the profile or blog their reading actually comes from you. After you've created your account, please email me with your username so I can get the badge applied to your account.

Top Users vs Top Rated & Poker Chips Reward System

Our site features two listing pages, one for Top Users, and one for Top Rated. When you are active on our network, your account will earn Poker Chips. Poker Chips are then used to enter into site giveaways that we'll offer (this is still being coded, members can earn chips but not spend them at this time). Your total Poker Chip accumulated balance (regardless of chips spent or transferred) will determine your accounts placement on the Top Users Page.

Industry members are not eligible to enter our giveaways (it would upset our members greatly if well-known pros or companies were to win our giveaways). But Industry accounts will have the ability to transfer their poker chips to other members. You are not permitted to sell the Poker Chips, but you could run contests of your own via your blog, in our forum, etc. to award some or all of your Poker Chip balance to other members.

When our Giveaway system is in place, PokerNations will be offering up a number of monthly and yearly giveaways, many of which are already planned. But this will also be a useful tool for Industry Members looking to promote their products, brands or services. If you'd like to offer something up to be featured in our Giveaway system, please email marketing@pokernations.com

The Top Rated page is completely different. All member accounts feature a ratings block of 1-10 stars beneath the members profile picture. Other members can rate you once (and can change their vote at anytime) and then our system will generate a Top 5 List for each profile category (i.e. Top 5 Casinos, Top 5 Poker Pros, etc) on our Top Rated page. There is also an option to View All for each category, in case you missed the Top 5 and would like to see where you rank. The system is coded with a Bayesian Weighted mathematical ranking script.

Advertising & Spam

We are trying to avoid the problems that plague sites like Myspace and Facebook, where members are inundated with spam comments, private messages or offers to join groups whose sole purpose is to push a product or service upon them.

We have a built-in advertising system that ties into Industry Member accounts. This allows you to create and track campaigns, view impressions, clicks and click through rates as well. Advertising is completely optional and you are still welcome to a free Official Profile regardless. More details on paid and free advertising options and rules may be viewed in this forum topic:

You do not have permission to view link Log in or register now.

For Industry Member
For members of the industry that are not pro players (i.e. employees/owners of companies, celebrities, tax & legal professionals, etc) but no Affiliates huh?

For Online Casino
For Online Casinos

I see out of all the various types of membership accounts that one can create that you have FAILED big time to list the single two most Important categories that keep the Poker and Casino Industry alive....

Players and Affiliates !!

Don't really know where ya'lls heads are on that one, kinda think you missed the boat IMO, but Good Luck anyway...

Players are regular members who signup on the main signup page (poker pros signup on the Industry Page)

For affiliates, you can signup as an Industry Member and it allows you to list your website/company, your position, and also includes some profile fields that permit html for banners and links.

Also, might've been nicer to ask, before you started making things bold and in large text and calling us a failure. :(

But thanks for at least reading and checking it out :)

Don't think as a whole you have failed at all Anthony, that's not what I meant...your site looks great!

IMO, like I previously stated, I believe the two most important and crucial aspects to the Poker and Casino Industry are the Players and Affiliates...just couldn't figure out why you would not also give the two most important aspects in this business a category listing and kudos...that's all.

We all know that if not for the "Players" and "Affiliates" then there would be no Poker Rooms or Casinos or social sites for the same...right...so I am just simply curious why you would elude those two "Stand Out" listings?

Those two would be the first two category listings that I presenting on a social network, but that's just me.

Hey Rob,

Glad to clear things up. The page with the multiple profile categories is specifically aimed at industry members. Typically on signup most people will go to our regular signup page first, before clicking a link to see the industry accounts.

The main signup page only offers one type of account, which is for the poker & gambling enthusiast. These account types have no ability to input html onto your profile. This way we avoid the headaches of a site like myspace, where members overload their profiles with too many flashing pictures, videos, flash and so forth that causes their profile page to take forever to load and/or crash the viewers browser.

Not to mention the ridiculous level of freedom afforded at Myspace results in people messing up their profiles so bad that the message me and add me buttons completely disappear! :what:

As far as affiliates go, we didn't create a category specifically aimed at them, except for rakeback affiliates. The more focused categories we created (gambling supplies, rakeback provider, online poker room, casino, etc) have a company ----> player relationship that is developed and nurtured.

The vast majority of affiliate sites are not about building a player relationship (in my opinion), but about boosting SEO/SERP's and getting that click-through sale.

The horrors we've seen on networks like Myspace and Facebook, where random affiliates add people who are friended with a poker pro or have expressed interest in poker on their profile, and then bombard them with status updates or bulletins with signup bonus codes was a big concern.

The poker and gambling enthusiasts really don't want to be bombarded with 270 offers/day from Full Tilt affiliates all offering the same signup bonus with different codes.

It's very important to our network that industry members using it come across as a helpful resource to the players, rather than just someone trying to sell them something.

Still, we haven't shunned affiliates completely. While there's no targetted category for a straight-up affiliate that doesn't provide rakeback, the Industry Member category is your "in", so to speak.

It allows you to use some html on your profile, inputting your company, website, position, etc. Plus a promotions block where you can put banners or links. We just ask that you use this responsibly and not go crazy with hundreds of banners going down the page. :)

Thanks for the detailed response here Anthony, much appreciated. That will also help others to understand what the site is all about a little better too. I will get back over there later today and smoke it all over a little better..
