Tis the season, ive received my annual Phishing(or spoof) attemt on Paypal. Just wanted to pass it on, in conjunction with CM's warning about Neteller Phishing scam. If you receive a spoof email, open paypal directly without email link, go to security, then follow instructions to forward it. :)

If I did that I would do nothing else all day!
Since I joined Ebay I have been literally bombarded with scam mails.
The biggest give-away is that they come in to an e-mail address that I haven't even registered with PayPal or E-bay (but is in my adverts).

So now I just zap everything - which is a little dangerous cos I deleted some genuine mails as well!

But still, the point of this thread is very good - please be VERY careful with any e-mails like these and NEVER follow a link in an e-mail to log into PayPal, E-bay or any similar sites. The fake sites look exactly like the real thing!

True, but I C&P the link in CM's post, and you couldn't even tell it wasn't Neteller. Quite a difference ;)

I get probably 10 of these a day in various email accounts. Most are shoddy and wouldn't fool anyone, but some of the most recent ones I've seen are damn good copies of legitimate Paypal emails and could very easily catch users off guard.

When in doubt, forward (with headers) without changing the Subject line, to spoof@paypal.com same for ebay spoof@ebay.com. You'll get an email back confirming whether it's a spoof or not.

Let's be careful out there.

I swear the spoof I received was an exact copy of the paypal page complete with the "spoof warning!" lol..according to paypal they disable the site whenever one is sent to them.:)

With PayPal and Amazon.com the URL should start with https instead of http. If you notice it has the padlock when you use the https indicating it is a secure site. Also, PayPal and eBay will address you by your name registered with them.

Amazon.com doesn't send me email unless I order from them. Then I get an order confirmation.

even i have recieved such email about concerning ebay product payment which i didn't buy payment was above $ 100 and my account balance was $ 22 , is this possible that you can buy $ 100 product in $ 22 hahahahaha..... , so when ever you recieve such email don't click and login to paypal by their given links for more good information you can visit this site Link Removed ( Old/Invalid) .

Technically you can. They will take the remainder from your bank account or credit card on file.

The main error that leads to receiving eBay and Paypal phishing mail is when you sell an item at eBay and put your email address in the item description
