Right, was pondering last night about which are the oldest games us slotters still play regularly today?

Forget Bonanza, a mere baby at 8 years, I am thinking along the lines of IGTs Cleopatra, Bally's Thunderhorn, Aristocrat's Buffalo etc.

Sadly the old Cryptologic ones and other brands considered classics are long gone, like their Green Lantern and King Arthur versions.

Nextgen's Medusa would probably be the starting point and getting older from there, so many Netents wouldn't even make the list but maybe some Playtechs would as would some MGs.

So what developer/game can you positively state is still played today and in slotting terms is an old relic?

This is not about reminiscing over lost discontinued favourites or studios, simply the survivor class!

For me the old Aristocrat slots like Where's The Gold and Queen of The Nile 2 are still as entertaining today as they were when I first played them (offline) 25 years ago.

Very very hard to pin down these days, but occasionally they can be found.

Great thread by the way ;)

Oh my goodness, if I was still playing today. My top few would be in no particular order.

  • Tombraider from Microgaming
  • Great Blue from Playtech
  • King Kong from Cryptologic - the one where you climb the tower and swat the bi planes in the feature round :D
  • Gladiator from Playtech
  • Thunderstuck from Microgaming

Yes, I guess that they would have been the first ever online games back in 95-98 at the inception of online casinos. They simply adapted land-based existing slots to html or whatever to get in quickly, before designing the more complex bespoke games specifically for online platforms as things progressed.

There's no clear record apparently of which was the first online slot attached to a legit gambling site, but MG's Cash Splash was the first online with progressive back in '98 (still about??) and WMS' Reel 'em in was the first to have a second-screen bonus round although not sure when that appeared online and if it's still about.

LOL no nostalgia, we are asking which old games you can still play today online, not Cryptologic's King Kong as it's long gone. But yes, I know a few who miss the Cryptologics too!

Er..me and especially @KasinoKing

Sorry, another edit - IIRC Tomb Raider has gone too?

I think we need to rely heavily here on forum members still gambling/playing as they will know what's about still and what's been archived for good.

I always find myself being drawn back to Thunderstruck when I am having a session, it was the slot I cut my teeth on and I always like to throw a few quid at it in the hope of repeating some of the great bonus rounds experienced in days of yore.

Yes, that one is still about so I presume its clones like Spring Break, Ladies Nite, Jane Blonde etc. are too. That came out in 2003 so 22 years old the winner thus far lol

Sadly none. However IGT's (original) Cleopatra which you mentioned was the BOMB! lol
First online slot I ever played, and I won handsomely which led me down the path of all these years.
WOW! It was actually released in 2002 land-based and online so only just beats TS1 - I thought it may have been a 90's one.

Raging Rhino (Well its called Raging Rhino, but it doesnt compare to the original)

Montezuma (Well its called Montezuma but it doesnt compare to the original)

Dead Or Alive 1

Break The Bank Again

Flowers

Secret Of The Stones
Yes, they've all got at least a decade of history, pretty young compared to some others but in today's world of temporary and disposable that's a respectable life thus far.

Sizzling Hot, Ultra Hot, Power Stars

Forgot all about Greentube/Novo games.

Those were in 2007 and 2008 so have also stood the test of time. Power Stars I play in the land-based sometimes.

First for me too, along with "Monopoly Here and Now"

All started when I spotted a small ad whilst reading the Sunday Newspapers (The People casino aka Games Xtra)

I still have the memory of it playing well the one day so upping to 40p on lunch break at work and hitting 5 Pharaoh Heads during the bonus, 300x IIRC which back then WAS a big win lol. Thing is also, those sort of hits did come in fairly regular, unlike now, which is a story for another time, another thread.

Funny you started this thread as actually been playing an older slot regularly for last few weeks. Slot in question is Avalon.

No idea what made me open it as
never used to like it years ago and rarely played it.

Anyway been playing it at a few different sites last few weeks . Nearly every time had good playtime and well up on it as several withdrawals. Free spins trigger regular and some have actually paid really good.

Definitely plays better than I ever remember it doing years ago.

Hit this beast the other day on raging rhino.
I hadn't been on it for a long long time but the thought flashed thru my mind so I opened it up and the bonus landed on the second spin.
Hit that beast within the bonus

That isn't that old, appeared land based 2013 and online early 2014 but still over a decade old. So a junior but will no doubt stay around for many years.

Avalon is a good game, some nice base game hits and IIRC up to 7x multiplier randomly in FS.

I hated the Monopoly games, except the one with the wheel where you could gamble a certain feature and possibly win big.

Oldest one for me is my old avatar favourite Jack Hammer, but that's only 2010. Looks like JH4 is out in June - likely to be as crap as 3 was!
Yeah, first two were OK, quite decent games.

Does Zeus count? Loved that game also and have the claim to fame for having the FIRST ever video of a win published here on Casinomeister, way back in 2011 :)

Jack and the Beanstalk was the slot that got my juices flowing. When the little skinny shit collected all of the keys in the bonus round with a bunch of free spins still remaining my heart would race in the hope of the reels filling up with burgundy.
Released in 2011

Shocking - not even 75x. EIGHT QUID a spin! How the other half lived lol
