Federal authorities arrested mother and daughter fugitives from Mexico this week at Phoenix Sky Harbor International airport
Silvana Theurell-Portillo, 24, and her mother, 65-year old Marina Portillo were trying to enter the U.S on flight to Phoenix from Mexico City. They were arrested Wednesday night. The apprehension was announced Friday.
Federal officials arrested them after determining the two are wanted in Florida on illegal gambling and racketeering charges.
The women are Mexican nationals who live in Argentina, according to the U.S. Customs & Border Protection agency.
