So I play at bitstars everyday and withdrawals are always bitcoin. I know if I try and send the wrong coin the address does not work. I withdrew 600 dollars and did not realize it was bitcoin cash they were sending because that was my last deposit. The rep told me there is nothing they can do. Is this reality because it’s is very disappointing

What sort of wallet do you use for BTC/bch?

They are obviously different blockchains since the fork but they share the same wallets. If it's not an exchange address you should be able to make a new wallet using the same seed phrase as the BTC address you gave and then cycle through unused wallet addresses until you reach a limit. Once that is done you can scan those addresses for funds.

You'll need to make sure you don't select single address wallet and that you don't change the derivation path

The wrong coin on a very different type of network won't work But Bitcoin Cash actually uses the same "protocol" as Bitcoin, so they can have the same type of address format on different networks.

This means the same address exists on Bitcoin network AND Bitcoin cash network.

As mulven said above, Bitcoin Cash simply a fork of Bitcoin.

We can help if you let us know the wallet you used for your Bitcoin address withdrawal. If it's Electrum, it's even easier, but most wallets should have a sweep function to just send everything out. I would, to an exchange and swap it:) In fact, if it's an exchange, they should credit you automatically anyway.

So I had them send it to my bitcoin address which is Coinbase I use.

If I understood correctly, you sent Bitcoin Cash to a Bitcoin address? If you sent it to a CEX exchange, then I think the funds shouldn’t be lost (all networks usually have 1 address). But if you sent it to your personal wallet and the addresses are different, then you may indeed lose your money.

I just spoke with Coinbase support and they are not even willing to help. They said it’s lost.

Maybe try emailing them? Coinbase has the private keys to all addresses, so they technically have the capability to recover your coins. Screenshot the transaction ID from BitStarz with the BCH transfer details (sending and receiving addresses). Tell Coinbase that BCH from that address went to your BTC one. But avoid telling them that it's a casino, as they might shut down your account.

Coinbase are a ass to deal with. Took me two weeks to get a simple issue resolved. Never mention its gambling money as they will close your account immediately.

You are correct I spoke with Coinbase and it sounded like she could help and then she came back and told me it not there responsible to search for peoples money I was out of luck.

It seems weird to me that their BCH deposit address is not the same as BTC, unless they are using different formats.
I know Binance automatically credits you BCH (or any coin they support actually that you send to the same address).

Coinbase is highly regulated, I think they would get in trouble if people started complaining about mistakenly sent funds, because ultimately, the DO control the same BCH wallets you've derived the BTC address from. I would use this point with them.

Also refer them to their own words on contacting the receiver and asking for cooperation to recover mistakenly sent funds:
