Announcement New Forum Launch

Should be fixed now. I had to go through each user group before the migration turning off the ability to post, PM, etc., so that the forum would remain read only. I missed a button to click.

I can't post in the affiliate forum at the moment, in case you weren't aware :)

Hi all,

It's no secret, but in case you have heard it mentioned - yes, the forum is getting ready for a make-over.

We have been testing newer - more robust software on a test site and we are almost ready for the export/import phase. This will probably be happening early next week sometime.

The software is amazing. Those who use your phones to access the site will be thanking me. The mobile version is awesome. And the desk top version is fast - it has pretty much the same look and feel, and it is more responsive. The CAG members have been checking it out for a little over a week, and so far no one has mutinied. :D

Anyway - some caveats:

The "Thanks". We are having problems importing the thanking system. The new forum has a thanks system in place, but does not display the older ones in the forum posts. So we may have to ditch that and start afresh. :(

There are newer "Thanks" plugins for the new forum, it just won't be able to calculate the ones you have already been given. It has imported the likes, so you will have those to admire. :D

Social Groups or the Meister Clubs: We may have to ditch these as well. The software is just not importing these correctly. We can keep a copy of them and perhaps import them at a later date, but not that many people are using them, and this doesn't justify holding off on the relaunch. Sorry for those of you who have been using the Meister Clubs.

Blogs: These aren't porting over very well either. So they will have to be loaded up at a latter time. Perhaps it could be done on the Word Press sections. We will see.

Who has read a thread: This works fine, but it hasn't imported the historical "reads". Sorry 'bout that.

When the export/import of the forum commences, it is going to take some time (it takes 5 hours for the PMs alone), so the forum will be down, but in a "read only" mode. You will be able to peruse the posts/threads etc.; you just won't be able to do anything that will change the data base.

So watch this space for more info. :D

I'm trying to create a new thread in the "Mesiter Minions" for withdrawal reports - but I can't create a thread. Is this classified as Mesiter club, hence why it doesn't work? I just don't see a button to create a new thread any more!

Thanks!

Only the mods and MM's can create threads in the MeisterMinions section. You can apply for MM status by sending Bryan a PM.

LOL - I think those are still set as read only. I'll fix these shortly. Thanks for the heads up. :D

Should be squared away now. We have 70 separate user groups in the forum, and I had to change permissions on these groups to "read only" to ensure that during the migration that no one could post or send PMs. Seems like I missed a few. :D

We are trying to schedule the second try early next week.
