Hi everyone!

I work for a company that develops software for the online gaming industry. i am a junior usability engineer. My job is to do research about users and how they relate to certain products, to design products that you, the user will enjoy playing and using. I then evaluate the product with people and see how they feel about them (in this regard i may have spoken to some of you before). I use the results from those evaluations to feed into the actual design as the designers continue to work on it. I essentially just bridge the gap between the user and the developer

At the moment, i am focusing much of my energy in finding out more about casino users, both new and accustomed to gambling. I have hit a bit of a stumbling block, which i am hoping that some of you would be able to help me with. Finding information on people who are new to online casinos hasn't been very easy. If there aren't any people who are new, then i would like to encourage those who are seasoned players to please help me out by sharing their experiences of being a first time player. so far, i'm interested in finding out the following things:

- Why did you decide to play online casino games?
-How did you choose which casino to play at?
-Did you already have experience playing casino games at land based casinos?
-What did you depend on to find your way around the casino? Was it self explanatory?
-How did you decide which games to play?
-How did you feel? excited? intimidated? comfortable? why?
-Did you stay at the first casino you played at? Why?
-Did you try and play for practice play or real money first? why?
-Why/when did you decide to play for real money?
-How old were you when you first started playing online?
-What has kept you interested?
-What issues/problems did you have at the casino as a first time player?
- What do you "wish" the casino would provide you as a player? so what else do you wish you were able to do that you cant currently do right now?

Welcome to the forum monds! For a first time poster you are asking a lot of questions which may turn a lot of forum members off and may also be a bigger stumbling block than what you thought! You may have gotten a warmer welcome with an introduction first and then maybe a poll to get the questions you wanted answered.

however I don't mind answering some of your questions which may also bring other forum members to do the same.
- Why did you decide to play online casino games? I became disabled
-How did you choose which casino to play at? for me my first casino was a stupid choice.. i found it through a search.. but when I won the random jackpot I did not get paid.. that is how I found Casinomeister!
-Did you already have experience playing online casino games at land based casinos? Yes
-What did you depend on to find your way around the casino? ? not sure i understand this one.. land based or online.. online is self explanatory
-How did you decide which games to play? I play the games I like, slots and let it ride
-How did you feel? excited? intimidated? comfortable? why? you gain comfort where ever you play.. but you lose that comfort when they do not pay you! now i only play where i know i will be paid.
-Did you stay at the first casino you played at? Why? Yes. they made me believe I was a valued customer. they treated me great, until I won a jackpot.. then I wasn't valued anymore.. I found myself fighting for my win..
-Did you try and play for practice play or real money? why? I jumped right into real play.. because they offered a free chip to try them
-How old were you when you first started playing online? much older than 18
-What has kept you interested? the thrill of the possible win
-What issues/problems did you have at the casino as a first time player? none as a first time player.. but alot as a winner.. you live and learn.
- What do you "wish" the casino would provide you as a player? so what else do you wish you were able to do that you cant currently do right now? Where I play now I am for the most part.. quite content.

Anyway, my answers:-

35 miles to my nearest casino, 35 inches to my nearest computer...!

I was already using their SportsBook & followed a link. (William Hills).

-Did you already have experience playing online casino games at land based casinos?
Yes.

-What did you depend on to find your way around the casino?
Common sense...? (Strange question!)

-How did you decide which games to play?
At first I played the ones I had played in a real casino (Blackjack, Stud, Roulette)

-How did you feel? excited? intimidated? comfortable? why?
Comfortable - because I totally trusted William Hills to offer fair games & good service.

-Did you stay at the first casino you played at? Why?
Yes. Good bonuses.

-Did you try and play for practice play or real money? why?
Both. Practice to practice, real money to try to win real money.
(Strangely worded question!)

-How old were you when you first started playing online?
Over 30...

-What has kept you interested?
Making profits 7 months from every 8 (for over 7 years).
And I'm addicted.

-What issues/problems did you have at the casino as a first time player?
None with my first casino.
Did have problems later with rogues (I didn't know they were rogues at the time).

- What do you "wish" the casino would provide you as a player?
I wish ALL casinos would make their bonuses totally un-'abusable' (it is NOT difficult), and therefore be able to offer more generous incentives to genuine players who just want to gamble. I feel this would also greatly reduce the number of player complaints against casinos.

So what else do you wish you were able to do that you cant currently do right now?
I wish I had the power to whip casinos into shape!
Some of the things I would change:
Proper game logs (like Crypto's have) at ALL casinos.
Fast, hassle-free payouts for all players.
Sensible, concise, unambiguous T&C's.
Better slots autoplay feature at all casinos (except MG who have it right).

It almost sounds like you are doing research for one of the big boys...maybe like MGM or Harrah's...doing the precursor due-diligence research to help them hit the online casino market running hard and heavy with everything the online community already enjoys...you know, have them up and running fast when they get ready to join the online gambling world...now would be a good time too since the land based casinos have been struggling as of late to keep their customer base up !!
