Planning a trip to Vegas in April and have free rooms at these casinos:

Sams Town
The Orleans
Gold Coast
SunCoast
California
Fremont
Main Street

I want to stay at one that is nice, with good amenities. Not particularly interested in shows etc.

Would like come input on these casinos.

I spend 50+ days a year in Vegas. I would stay at the Orleans. Over-sized nice rooms, wide game selection for slots, variety of moderate priced restaurants. Orleans has a free shuttle to its sister properties the Rio (for there you can walk to Gold Coast or across the street to the Palms (great VP) and also shuttle stops at Bill's Gambling Hall which puts you center strip. From there (Bill's) you can walk to see all the strip has to offer.

Sam's town is too far away from anything else, same with Sun Coast. Gold Coast is a dump, don't even consider it.

California, Fremont Street and Main Street are all downtown. Not the best reputation, only place I would stay downtown is Golden Nugget.

Send me PM on any specific questions. I just returned from last Vegas trip on Monday.

Diane

Thanks, Diane.

The Orleans is what I kinda picked out. Not really going to the gambling as I have casinos within 60 miles but want to be in the middle of the action, so to speak. Mainly want to just look around. We are going to drive out as I don't fly unless it's an emergency so getting around won't be too much of a problem.

Las Vegas!

Hi there.Play craps, pai gow poker, baccarat, blackjack, hold em poker, and enjoy your stay at these casinos. The cheapest gambles are near Fremont.

For rooms, I would support Diane's remarks.Harrah's can have good comps for rooms and for other events. That's worth looking at.

I guess you can tell by my name that I frequent Vegas alot...and I do. I just came back from Vegas and stayed at Sams Town...Orleans and Main Street. I also always get my rooms free. You must belong to the B Connected Club as these casinos are all B Connected. It is very easy to score rooms and food from these casinos.

Non of those casinos are on the strip but with Gold Coast and Orleans they do run a shuttle as Dianne said and it does take you to centre strip. One correction on what Dianne said...the Orleans and Rio are not sister casinos and the shuttle does not stop at Rio, although it is indeed an easy walk from the Gold Coast.

Sams Town is way out on the Bolder Strip but does shuttle to the strip and also Downtown. It like most B Connected casinos draws an older clientele. Sams and Orleans have a bowling centre and a rather large movie theatre. Eats are cheap at both places.

If you choose downtown rooms are small but ok and right on Fremont street. I would suggest Orleans as others have said. But Sams Town and Main Street are both ok.

Have fun

You are correct Gold Coast is not related to Rio. Rio is part of Harrah's/CET network of casinos. I should have said that are next door to each other....

Good advice given.

Thanks, Vegasbum. You are correct - BConnected member. Actually got my rooms thru the racetrack casino at Delta Downs in Louisiana.

Made my reservations so now got to hope that all things go well and I get to go. :D

The Orleans is where I always stay. My sisters and I have been going there for 20 odd years. Good food and good payouts. It is a favorite of the locals. One of my sisters lived in Vegas for 15 years and that is where she always played. I have always been lucky there.

Suncoast is going to be the nicest but it will be an older crowd so it depends on if that is what you want. They have some really old school style restaurants there. I would take Orleans if you wanted a younger crowd, and if you wanted to stay downtown instead Main street station. My last choice would be Sam's Town.

Your Vegas trip

Another option, if you are a member of a timeshare club, is to buy a week at one of the Vegas timeshares. If you aren't a member, look on Ebay to see what they have to offer for rent. You didn't say if you were traveling with kids, but this would be great if you were. Some are very nice and since you aren't interested that much in the shows or slots you don't need one adjacent to a casino which some are. There was one, the Hilton Grand adjacent to the Flamingo Hilton we stayed at years ago and it was great. We also used to go to the casino hotels for three nighters several times a year and stay almost anywhere we could get free rooms, mostly the Flamingo and Harrahs but also Ballys and the Riveria. But the timeshare will save you on some meals and give you a bit more peace and quiet in the evenings than a hotel room. Also more private amenities like workout room and pool / hot tob/ sauna, etc. that may be extra at a hotel. A bit different experience. If you haven't been to Vegas before, make certain you check out all the coupon books to help you save some money and see all the free attractions. Have a good trip. :)
