Probability

The probability of hitting the jackpot id the same irrespective of the value. The expected value of playing for the jackpot under these circumstances is a different matter. Even though the expected value of a progressive can be in the players favour, the risk is very big, as the chance of being the player that actually hits it depends upon who else is trying, and the higher the jackpot, the more players will be trying.

This is a recipe for disaster unless you have a large bankroll and can afford to be in it for the very long term (several attempts at a progressive to extract the value).

Yeah, but what is the probability of hitting it?

Couple of days ago playing in I got down to the last circle 5 times. Ended up with 2x100, 2x80 and 1x60. Never close hitting the last arrow though. It made me think that it's "easy" to get to the last spin but hitting the last arrow is a lot harder.

oh ok, I thought I was just getting lucky/unlucky. Hit the last circle 3 times my last couple of sessions. My 1st time was arrow -> arrow --> almost arrow. :D

Probably hard to calculate, unlike the MG 5 reel progressives, as the Jackpot is part of the bonus round, and the bonus round is undoubtedly weighted.
I hope that one day it somehow becomes law that ALL casinos have to state the odds of hitting ALL combinations on ALL games - including slots.

I don't know what the casinos are afraid of - I know the odds of winning the UK Lottery are over 14 million to 1, but I still play every week...

What happens if the jackpot reaches 10million? will they let it increase till someone wins it?

Although it won't happen, in theory yes. The way progressives work at Crypto is that the casinos, under their software licence have to pay a percentage called a "progressive contribution" into a central pot.

At Microgaming for example, I think this can be up to 9% of income if the casino has all the progressive games onboard (on top of the 22% or something silly MG take for the licence!!). I'm only going on casual conversations with people in the industry, so i could be corrected.

This keeps building and when a progressive hits, Crypto pay the casino the money to pay to the lucky punter.
