Anyone else having the same problem?

Looks like the LOTR slot is no more. Just got this from Red Flush:

September will see The Lord of the Rings get a complete revision! The updated Lord of the Rings video slot will replace the existing game in our portfolio and boast a number of exciting features that include a Progressive Jackpot and Free Spins feature.

That's strange! Why would they remove the old one?
Gonna miss it!

I tried to play LOTR in different CasinoRewards Casinos the last 7-10 days; i always was forced to start the game by the search option & it is still not in the list, even after a restart!

Now that would be AWFUL!!:eek::mad:

Altough the game is usually very brutal to me, I still love it and play it alot!
Replacing the game with a progressive version would be a really bad move.
Progressives are often not allowed to play with a bonus.
Not to mention the lower RTP in the base game..

Please MG, dont do this!!

Microgaming has released a revamped version of its successful video slot "The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring"...

The game features 243 Ways, Cinematic Spins, four progressive jackpots and a randomly triggered Bonus Wheel. The new character to the game Gollum can appear anywhere and awards players with bonuses and prizes.

That sucks!!!!! I do not like the mega moolah games much, I play them now and again.. I played LOTR ALL the time and have had some brutal sessions and some OMG sessions... I am so sad to see it go :( Why fix something that isn't broken!!!!

.

I do not like games that practice a "higher you stake the more chance you`ve got of triggering the feature to win the progressive Jackpot"-system.

Looks like Microgaming are using the popularity of the first game to get players to place large bet on a game with (probably) very high variance. They did some of the same with the very popular Thunderstruck. They launched a Thunderstruck 2 that misled the players to chase for useless achievements etc.

Shame on Microgaming

I can't understand why they would remove what must me a popular slot and replace it with another one instead of making two slots. The LOTR slot was one of my favorite MG slots, I can't be bothered playing it if it becomes a progressive with 90% RTP or whatever.

Maybe they only got license to have one slot with the LOTR theme or something like that.

Really bad change, they should have just released a "Lord Of The Rings Mega Moolah" and kept the original instead of doing this.

The original was fun, could be brutal/could be awesome (exactly like a slot should be imo) and I enjoyed playing it.

I will not enjoy playing one that has had the gameplay I like so much changed and the RTP lowered to pay for a progressive jackpot realisticly I will never get at the expense of my old slot.

BAD DECISION MICROGAMING.

Yeah progressives are just cash cows for casinos forcing you to take a max bet to be in with a chance of a progressive,it also alienates the lower rolling players. Although the addition of a multiplier to the bonus round is a really good idea, they shoulda just stuck with that and nothing more!

I couldn't agree more.

If this is the way they want to compete with netent's Mega Fortune Jackpot, I hope they will regret this decision.

I think that's the nail on the head. I heard some time back they had a licence to create 3 slots - one for each LOTR book. Doesn't really explain why they have changed the first game but would explain why if they chose to do so, they had to replace it.

I wonder how much they actually pay for a license, the use of film footage and the actors faces,it cant be cheap! In the end the player ends up paying for it and the rtp drops.I find most branded slots suck you dry i.e the osbournes, tomb raider 2,hitman,hellboy.Why do they not make a clone of LOTR call it something else as they do with most of there slots.

.

I would like to add one more thing.

I know that Net Entertainment have priced Frankenstein separately due to to the license fee payable to Universal. It means that Frankenstein is more expensive than other games without this license fee.

I would imagne that Microgaming have some of the same deal with Warner Bros.

Every license fee probably affects the RTP. And now Microgaming even use a license fee theme as a progressive game. We know that most progressive games already have low RTP without any license fee. So...you know

This is the info Microgaming published about the Warner Bros deal regarding LOTR (before the first game was launched in 2010)

MICROGAMING ANNOUNCES LICENSING AGREEMENT WITH WARNER BROS. DIGITAL DISTRIBUTION FOR THE LORD OF THE RINGS MOVIE TRILOGY

ISLE OF MAN – Microgaming, the world’s largest provider of online gaming software, has announced that it has signed a multi-year licensing agreement with Warner Bros. Digital Distribution, to create a series of cutting-edge, graphic rich video slots, based on the popular The Lord of the Rings movie trilogy, for Internet gaming to adults in countries where online gaming is permitted. The agreement gives Microgaming permission to develop online video slot games using animation material, themes and characters from the motion pictures The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers and The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King.

This deal illustrates Microgaming’s commitment to license the right brands, at the right time. It is a strategic and timely decision to secure exclusive, online video slot game rights to a trilogy that generated $3billion in worldwide box office receipts and was nominated for a total of 30 Academy Awards®; of which they won 17, including Best Picture.

Roger Raatgever, CEO of Microgaming said, "We’re excited about creating state-of-the-art video slots from the best movie trilogy of the decade. We look forward to bringing The Lord of the Rings into the online gaming sphere, where our expertise in game quality and speed to market will ensure its success. The Lord of the Rings has a huge entrenched fan base with over 97% awareness of the film franchise, as well as phenomenal and unprecedented home video success.”

The announcement comes hot on the heels of the launch of Microgaming's latest flagship branded video slot, Hellboy, which promises to be hugely successful amongst the player community.

Dammit, so they are REALLY going to take away the original game!
Awful!!

Nominated by me for the Worst Marketingdecision Of The Year Award.

Now where the hell do I lose my big wins on BDBA when LOTR is gone?!?

Better go play LOTR now while I still can. About 24 hours left to hit those 5 reels wild.
..dammit..

Is there some reason to think it's going to disappear from Playtech? I just thought MG was adding it to the Mega Moolah family.

I would say if it is removed from Microgamings portfolio of games then no one will have access to the original :(

This was one of my favourite games, never had a session without playing it so I will be lost now, hopefully its not tinkered to much.

The deals with Bet365, Virgin etc are seperate and I would imagine are for a set period. Whether they get the new game or not remains to be seen but I would guess it will get replaced by the new one depending on the licence with Warner Bros.

I'm inclined to see and play the new one before judging the if the move is the right decision though.

From a marketing angle though this is a right PITA. The casinos and affiliates etc have done a lot of stuff on the Fellowship slot which will all have to be ditched now. Probably going to lose all the fun-play versions too if it has progressives.

Think this is a temp error when for some reason the casino doesn't load properly= it happens to me quite often and when it happens there is no temperature indicators on any of the games either. I just log out and exit and reload and it is usually reappears- sometime takes a couple of reloads but it always comes back.

LOTR has disappeared off my ladbrokes download casino but still available on flash, strange!. But they still havent gave me my 25 free spins on lotr download version for there pub slot friday promo. They will have to give me them on the new version, well I hope they do!

I do wonder how they are gonna change the game when people are logged into the game and happily playing away, are they just gonna kick u out the game? ,"we have a casino error" no doubt!

On swedish language on the pub slot promo info on ladbrokes website it's now changed to say 100 paylines 0.01 cent $£€1 per spin * 15 spins. So the new LOTR slot is 100 lines? (Sorry if I missed if this is posted already)

Thanks, I just checked the promo and it hasnt changed in the uk version still 25 spins at 0.60 a spin. Sent off a nice email asking whats happening.

What realy annoys me about ladbrokes is they have no casino LiveChat,u gotta wait till next day for a response. :(

They have live chat. Language settings must be "english" and it's in banking section. Logo is 404 since some weeks, but it's located up to the left. You will find it... and they actually have a very good and fast live chat. If you have problems with promos they contact promo and don't ask you to send an email or other bullshit thats common with many other places. Same goes with anything else.

Thanks, yeah forgot about that in banking page. But they just deal with general enquirys, not so much casino stuff.I tried them and they said they would send an email to there promotion department to investigate. So will have to wait another day and thats the downside compared to other casino live chats where u can get it sorted there and then.

Hmm thats strange. They always have directly contact with promo team and anything else I have had problems with. I play mostly in the afternoon UK time so maybe they are all working then and you play at other times.

One time only I remember bad support... got some extra 20 in bonus account that should have been in regular balance... but I didn't care much since they always have the nice wagering requirements of only *10... I could do some extra wagering considering how much they have paid out for me :)

The original PR clearly mentioned a "trilogy" and a "series" of slots. No reason therefore to expect anything other than new LOTR games being released until players ended up with all three, one for each book/film. Something has clearly changed behind the scenes, and it looks like the original deal has been renegotiated so that only ONE game can be active at any one time. Even though this is a "multi-year" licensing deal, it suggests an end point where ALL versions will have to be removed from MGS casinos.

The obvious solution for MGS is to redress the original game engine with non-licensed content, and still offer players the same game, but with different names for the symbols and features.

It could also be that the original deal was a fee per game, and MGS decided to pull the old one rather than pay two fees after launching the new one.
